LG G2 Sprint Rear Facing Camera Replacement

Almost the entire phone must be disassembled for camera repair, so carefully set aside all removed screws and components for future use.

Step 1 | Charger Port

Use a plastic opening tool to pry open your phone case.

  • Flip the phone over and slide the tool between the two sides of the case, working towards the bottom.
  • Pry the case open gently but consistently until you feel the clip release.

Be careful when releasing the top left corner clip as it can be difficult to disengage.

Remove the outer phone case.

  • Prepare two Phillips head bits: J0 and J000.
  • Use the J0 bits to remove the 11 silver screws.
  • Use the J000 bit to remove the small black screw.

Ensure all screws and clips are removed before proceeding.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to release the clip on the upper left side of the upper panel.
  • Pry the ribbons carefully off the board with a plastic opening tool.

If the panels do not separate easily, recheck screw removal and ribbon connections.

If the panel resists removal, check that all screws are removed.

  • Pry back the bottom inside panel with care.
  • If it does not come off easily, inspect for any remaining screws.

Careful handling is required to avoid damage to delicate components.

  • Release the indicated clips by gently prying them away from their mounting points.
  • Identify the marked circuits, taking care not to disrupt any attached wires or ribbons.
  • When disconnecting cables, use your tools to target the connectors only, avoiding damage to the wire itself.

Locate and release the clips and circuits shown in the provided images.

  • Be cautious not to damage any attached ribbon or wires during disassembly.

Bend the orange materials along the dotted line labeled "bend" to avoid creases and stress points.

Disconnect all ribbon and antennae connections.

  • Pry the board up gently from the bottom of the case.
  • Slide the board back out.
  • Make sure all ribbon connectors are removed from the board before proceeding.

Step 8 | Rear Camera

Use a plastic prying tool to gently pry the rear facing camera away from its adhesive attachment.

Always employ an ESD-safe tool when handling sensitive components like the camera.
