LG Fortune 2 Screen Replacement

Dropping your LG Fortune 2 may have caused screen damage – cracks or greenish imperfections indicate a needed replacement.

  • Rather than buying a new phone, replace the screen using the tools below.
  • You'll only need two tools and will be able to salvage your existing device.

Locate and press the slit on the bottom left side of the phone with your thumb.

  • Use your fingers to pry open the back cover.
  • Find the groove at the bottom of the phone and slide the battery out.
  • Remove the battery for safety purposes before proceeding with step 2.

Remove the 12 x 4mm screws from the back panel with a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

Use plastic opening tool with care; damage or snap may occur.

  • Insert plastic opening tool between glass screen and midframe.
  • Apply force, but avoid damaging the tool, as it will be needed later.
  • Mandatory: all screws must be removed before proceeding to ensure clear access.

Release the flex cable with a plastic opening tool.

  • Pry off the front camera, situated above the SIM card slot, using the same plastic opening tool.

Handle the motherboard with care, as it is sensitive and crucial for the device's operation.

  • Start at the bottom of the phone to use the available space.
  • Insert a plastic opening tool between the motherboard and the rest of the device.
  • Pry the motherboard off carefully, working your way around it if necessary.

Use the plastic opening tool to carefully pry off the ear speaker located underneath the device.

  • Remove the headphone jack, taking care not to damage it due to its strong adhesive.
  • Scrape away any rubber protection first using a prying tool.

  • Next, remove the volume rocker/button on the side of the phone with the plastic opening tool.

Careful handling is necessary to avoid damage to the screen.

  • Disconnect the loudspeaker antenna using a plastic opening tool.
  • Remove the small rubber piece from the antenna.

The new LCD screen replacement comes with a frame, as shown in Photo 2.

  • If purchasing the glass and LCD together without a frame, carefully remove the old glass and LCD using heat around the edges, then use the plastic opening tool to separate them from the frame.

To minimize screen damage, install a glass screen protector and use a cell phone case.
