LG Escape (p870) Rear Camera Replacement

This repair guide is for replacing the rear camera on an LG Escape (model p870).

Step 1 | Battery

Flip the device over and remove the back cover by inserting a finger or tool into the opening at the bottom.

Lift the battery out from the bottom edge using your finger.

  • The battery will be fully accessible once removed.
  • You can now access:
    • Your SD card.
    • Your SIM card.
    • Your device's serial numbers.

Step 3 | Loudspeaker Assembly

Remove the four Phillips 00 screws from the speaker assembly.

  • The screws secure the speaker assembly to the phone housing.

Insert a flathead screwdriver between the speaker assembly and rear housing.

  • Pry the speaker assembly out.
  • Set aside for further repair or replacement.

Step 5 | Rear Camera

Remove six remaining screws holding the plastic frame to the back housing.

Insert a black plastic spudger or small flathead screwdriver between the back silver bezel and the black area.

  • Pry the bezel away from the rest of the phone, working your way around.
  • Be careful not to damage any components during prying.

If the frame becomes stuck, do not apply excessive force — risk of damage to internal components.

  • Once the frame is free, carefully set it aside.

Release the camera's flex cable using a plastic spudger or safe-open pry tool.

  • Remove the camera from its housing.
  • Set it aside for now.
