LG Escape (p870) charging port board assembly

Step 1 | Battery

Turn the device over.

  • Pull the back plastic cover off by inserting a fingernail into the opening at the bottom and gently pulling.

From the bottom edge, use your finger to carefully lift the battery out of the phone and set it aside.

  • You will now be able to access your SD card, SIM card, and device's serial numbers.

Step 3 | Loudspeaker Assembly

Remove the four Phillips 00 screws that secure the speaker assembly.

  • Insert a flathead screwdriver between the speaker assembly and the rear housing.
  • Pry the speaker assembly out of the phone.
  • Set aside for later reassembly.

Step 5 | Touch screen/digitizer

Remove the six screws holding the plastic frame in place.

  • Use a Phillips screwdriver for this step.

Insert a black plastic spudger or small flathead screwdriver between the back silver bezel and black area.

  • Pry the bezel away from the rest of the phone, working your way around the device.
  • Pry carefully to avoid damaging surrounding components.

  • Once the frame is free, set it aside.

  • Remove the wifi and cell service antenna.
  • Disconnect the LCD connector.
  • Disconnect the back camera connector.
  • Disconnect the front camera connector.
  • Disconnect the touch screen/digitizer connector.
  • Disconnect the charger port connector.
  • Disconnect the headphone jack connector.

  • Use a spudger or safe open pry tool to carefully detach the LCD flex connector.

  • Release both antennae from their connectors.

  • Disconnect the back camera's flex from its connector.

Release the charging port flex from its connector.

  • Release the front camera's flex from its connector.
  • Disconnect and release the touch screen/digitizer's flex cable from its connector.

Release the headphone jack's flex cable from its connector.

Tearing the power button and volume button flex cables can occur easily.

  • With a pair of tweezers, carefully pull the volume button flex out of the rear housing.
  • Repeat this process for the power button flex cable.

Separate the motherboard carefully from the housing.

  • Watch for the antennae and flex cables.
  • Lift the motherboard away, keeping them clear.

Set the motherboard aside gently.

Insert a small flathead screwdriver or black plastic spudger between the front silver bezel and black plastic mid-frame.

  • Pry on the bezel to release clips, working your way around the phone.
  • Remove the screen carefully, avoiding flex cable damage.

When removing the old digitizer, strong adhesive will be destroyed. To secure the new digitizer, use double-sided tape or epoxy.

Step 14 | Charging Port

Careful handling required: do not damage the antennae.

  • Pry the ribbon cable at the top, marked in blue, using a gentle prying motion.
  • Slowly peel the ribbon cable downward until the charging port assembly is released.
  • Remove the assembly and set it aside.
