Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro Motherboard Replacement

Your motherboard may be faulty if the phone won't power on after the battery replacement.

Step 1 | Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro Backplate Disassembly

Remove the Torx head screws, using a Torx driver, from the 4.9 mm screw holes on the camera plate at the back of the phone.

Remove Torx head screws (3.65 mm) at the bottom of the phone.

Insert a paper clip or similar tool into the small hole on the side of the phone.

  • Push the paper clip gently until the SIM card tray ejects.

Use the Spudger to pry the backplate away from the phone, working along their joint.

Step 5

Careful not to damage components, gently pry the backplate loose.

Step 6 | Battery

Hold the item firmly and peel away the protective film by hand.

  • Remove adhesive strips from battery with a fingernail or Nylon Spudger.
  • Prioritize using the Nylon Spudger for optimal performance near batteries.

Disconnect the orange battery ribbon cable using a spudger, working carefully to avoid damage.

Use a fingernail or spudger to pry the battery upwards.

  • Lift the battery out of the phone.

Step 10 | Motherboard

Remove the 3.15mm Phillips Head #000 screws from the motherboard.

  • Use tweezers to lift the black hinges of the two ribbon cables.
  • Pull the cables away from their connectors.

Disconnect the rear-camera connector carefully.

  • Remove the front-facing camera by gently lifting its connector tab.
  • Use a spudger to gently lift and remove the adjacent connector.

Remove the plastic edge bracket at the top of the device.

Disconnect the antenna from the bottom piece of the screen plate.

Lift the motherboard off the frame with gentle care.

  • Allow the camera module to slide out from its position behind the motherboard.

  • Use a spudger to disconnect the charging port assembly cable and the screen connection cable.
  • Completely remove the motherboard.
