Nexus 6P Vibration Motor Replacement

When reassembling, ensure proper adhesion of parts.

  • Follow this guide for replacing the vibration motor.
  • Apply new adhesive as needed during reassembly.

Step 1 | Back Cover

Using an iOpener for back cover removal can be lengthy and difficult; we recommend a heat gun instead.

  • Remove the SIM card tray using a SIM card eject tool.
  • Caution: The adhesive is extremely sticky, so use care when removing it; apply an iOpener to loosen the small plastic cover at the bottom of the phone.

Use a kitchen knife, as it is relatively sharp.

  • Be cautious not to cut yourself or damage your phone.

  • Pry up the plastic cover with an inserted kitchen knife.
  • Insert an opening pick underneath the plastic cover and slide it in to separate the adhesive.

Apply heat with an iOpener to soften the adhesive under the glass cover.

  • Be cautious of sharp edges — risk of injury.

  • Insert a knife between the phone and the glass cover.
  • Pry up the glass cover until an opening pick can be inserted.

Risks of injury are present; wear protective glasses and gloves.

  • Insert an opening pick under the glass cover, then use it to break the adhesive seal.
  • Pry off the glass cover.

Remove the six #00 Phillips screws.

  • Use tweezers to remove any adhesive stickers from the screw heads.

Be extremely cautious when using a razor knife to avoid injury.

  • Insert a razor knife between the metal back cover and front glass to create a gap.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap and slide it to the top right corner.

Do not cut yourself or your phone with the sharp knife.

  • Insert a second opening pick and slide it to the top left corner.
  • Slide both picks along the edges to separate the plastic clips holding the back cover and midframe together.
  • Once separated, carefully remove the rear cover.

    Step 7 | Battery Disconnection

    Remove the Phillips #000 screw.

    • Use tweezers to remove the metal plate.
    • Disconnect the battery flex cable using the flat end of a spudger.

    Step 8 | Charging Board

    • Disconnect the main flex cable using a spudger.
    • Unplug the antenna cable with tweezers.
    • Remove the Phillips #000 screw.

    Step 9

    • Pry out the charging board with a spudger.
    • Remove the charging board.

    Step 10 | Vibration Motor

    Use tweezers to carefully remove the vibration motor.

    • The vibration motor may be slightly stuck due to existing adhesive.

    Be cautious not to touch any electrical components when handling the vibration motor.

    When reassembling, apply new adhesive as needed to ensure a secure fit.
