Removing the back cover with an iOpener is possible but labor-intensive.

We recommend using a heat gun for faster and more reliable results.

The adhesive in the Nexus 6P is extremely sticky, and removing the glass and plastic cover can result in breakage or bending.

  • Use a SIM card eject tool to pop out the SIM card tray.
  • Apply an iOpener to loosen the adhesive underneath the small plastic cover at the phone's bottom.

  • Pry up the plastic cover until an opening pick can be inserted.
  • Slide the opening pick underneath the plastic cover to cut the adhesive.

Be extremely cautious when using the razor knife as it is very sharp and may cause injury.

  • Insert a razor knife between the metal back cover and front glass to create a gap.
  • Slide an opening pick into the gap and move it to the top right corner.
  • Insert a second opening pick and slide it to the top left corner.
  • Use both opening picks to slide along the edges, separating the plastic clips that hold the back cover and midframe together.
  • Once separated, carefully remove the rear cover.
