Nexus 6P Daughterboard/Charging Port Replacement

The USB charging port is located on the daughterboard, making replacement easier. Proceed with the following steps:

  • Locate and remove any screws securing the daughterboard in place.
  • Gently pull the board away from its connector to access the USB port.
  • Disconnect the USB port from the motherboard.

Remove the SIM card tray.

Be cautious when handling the back glass panel, as it may shatter easily.

  • (Heat the back glass panel first)
  • Use a hobby knife to carefully open a gap and cut the strong adhesive underneath the rear glass panel.

Apply heat to the bottom plastic panel.

  • Use a hobby knife to create an opening and carefully insert guitar picks
  • To release adhesive, slide guitar picks underneath.

These two parts fit tightly, requiring extra care when separating.

  • Twist off six Phillips screws.
  • Pry the front assembly from the back cover using a guitar pick and plastic opening tool.
  • If stuck, consider using a heavy-duty suction cup for assistance.

Unscrew one Phillips screw.

  • Remove the metal bracket securing flex contactors.
  • Release the 3 flex contactors and remove it.

This flex cable connects the motherboard to the daughterboard.

  • Disconnect the signal cable contactor.
  • Twist off one Phillips screw.
  • Remove the daughterboard.

The daughterboard contains the attached charging port.
