Do not overheat the phone as both the display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage.
Be aware of the following regions:
Apply a suction cup near the warm edge.
Do not insert the pick more than 13 mm (0.5 inches), as this may damage the display assembly.
Reheat if you have trouble creating a gap, or try using a playing card instead of an opening pick for initial entry.
Slide the opening clip along the top edge to slice through the adhesive.
Leave an opening pick in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.
Apply a heated iOpener to the right edge of the phone for two minutes.
Do not insert the pick more than 1 mm (1/32") along the edge to avoid damaging the display assembly.
Apply an iOpener to the bottom edge for two minutes.
Do not slice deeper than 8.5 mm (1/3") or you will damage the display cable.
Carefully lift the display assembly up slightly by the right corners.
Do not remove the display assembly yet, as it is still attached by a flex cable.
Careful handling required — avoid straining the flex cable.
Remove the two 4 mm T5 screws securing the display cable bracket.
Remove the display cable bracket.
Do not press down on the middle of the press connector.
Do not apply new adhesive until you have tested your repair.
Completely remove all traces of adhesive residue from the frame before installing a new display.
Remove all adhesive residue from the panel and frame when reinstalling the same display assembly before applying new adhesive.
Remove the plastic clips from the edge of the back case.
Due to tight tolerances, releasing the first clip can be challenging.
Insert a pick into the top right corner of the phone.
Ensure all clips snap back into position to avoid damage.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to carefully pry the battery connector away from its socket.
Bend the battery flex cable at an angle so that it cannot come into contact with the motherboard and cause damage.
Peel up the tape at the top of the interconnect cable with tweezers.
Use the point of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the interconnect cable from the motherboard.
Do not pull the connector by the wires — may break.
Use the flat end of a spudger to pry up and loosen the right edge of the daughterboard.
Do not attempt to remove the daughterboard; it is still attached to the frame.
Slowly lift the left edge of the daughterboard up.
If the antenna patch begins to rip, stop pulling. Risk of damage or breakage.
Use the spudger point to carefully pry up and release the white antenna cable from its socket.
Transfer the barometric vent from your old part to the new one if it does not come with a replacement.
Avoid pushing too hard, as this may damage the vent or surrounding components.
Attach the vent to the new part using adhesive or double-sided tape, if necessary. Ensure the bottom vent hole remains uncovered.
