How to Apply New Outer Screen Adhesive in Your Google Pixel Fold

Step 1 | Apply the top right adhesive

Do not proceed if reusing the small top right adhesive.

  • Peel off the new small top right adhesive strip from its clear liner.
  • Place the new adhesive on the top right bracket of the frame.
  • Press down the adhesive using a spudger or your fingers to secure it in place.

Step 2 | Align the adhesive

Verify that the large perimeter adhesive aligns with the frame.

  • Ensure the clear liner is facing towards the frame.
  • Locate any cutouts in the liner to facilitate correct adhesive orientation.

Step 3 | Apply the adhesive

Careful alignment is essential to avoid incorrect placement of the adhesive.

  • Peel off the new adhesive strip from its clear liner, ensuring no residue remains.
  • Align the adhesive over the frame's top left and bottom left edges first.
  • Secure the adhesive along the perimeter of the frame in a smooth, even motion.

Press down the adhesive with the flat end of a spudger or your fingers onto the frame.

Step 5 | Peel the large liner

Peel up the segmented tab at the lower left corner of the large blue liner.

Step 6 | Reconnect the back glass

Lift the release tab and carefully remove the large blue protective film.

  • The secondary liner will be exposed, allowing access to other components.

Step 7 | Reconnect the screen

Support the screen using a stable object.

  • Reconnect the screen cable.
  • Reconnect the flip battery cable.

Use a Torx Plus 3IP driver to reattach the bottom bracket.

Step 8 | Peel the secondary liner

Peel up one of the secondary liner tabs using tweezers or your fingers.

  • If the adhesive begins to separate, use a spudger to hold it down while peeling.

Step 9 | Apply the back glass

Lift the tab and peel off the secondary liner to expose the top adhesive.

Step 10 | Expose the top right adhesive

Remove the blue liner from the top right adhesive strip.

Step 11 | Apply the screen

Position the screen with its edges aligned to the cutout in the frame.

  • Align one edge (right) to the frame, ensuring a tight fit without gaps or excess adhesive.
  • Repeat for the other edge (left).

Press down along the screen's perimeter to attach it firmly to the frame.

  • Allow the phone to sit for several hours to enable adhesive curing.
