Do not start repair with a fully charged battery — risk of fire.
Apply iOpener to the bottom edge of the screen for 2 minutes.
Never insert your opening pick beyond the dark black border surrounding the screen.
Avoid applying excessive force or using tools that could further damage the phone.
If all else fails, superglue can be used as a last resort but handle with care and avoid damaging surrounding components.
Slide an opening pick along the bottom edge to separate the adhesive.
Heat a iOpener and apply it to the right edge of the screen for 2 minutes.
Apply iOpener to the top edge of the screen for 2 minutes.
Insert a new opening pick into the top right corner.
Heat the iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the screen for 2 minutes.
Be extremely cautious when handling the sharp corner, as it is prone to damage.
Insert a new opening pick in the top left corner.
Be extremely careful around the sharp corner — excessive force or sudden movement may cause damage.
Locate the small adhesive strip at the top right corner of the phone.
Apply heat from an iOpener to the top-right corner of the screen for 2 minutes.
Insert a pick along the right edge of the screen, just above the top right corner.
Push the pick under the screen until it's fully seated, but do not lose control of the tool.
Risk of screen damage: work carefully, applying more heat as needed.
Separate the screen from the frame, using an opening pick for any remaining adhesive.
Do not remove the screen yet, as it's still connected by a cable.
Keep track of each Torx Plus screw's location for reinstallation.
Remove the bottom bracket using tweezers or your fingers.
Avoid prying against the battery.
When reattaching, align carefully and press down on one side until it clicks, then repeat on the other. Do not press in the middle, as this may cause pin damage.
Insert the point of a spudger under the short edge of the screen press connector facing the bottom of the phone.
Be cautious not to insert your spudger anywhere else, as you risk damaging surface-mounted components on the logic board.
The Pixel's screen is extremely fragile and can be damaged with minor scratches or dents.
Reassemble by following these steps:
If using double-sided tape (like Tesa Tape), ensure you have custom cut adhesive strips first, as it may cause damage or poor adhesion.
