Let your battery drain below 25% capacity — a fully charged battery may ignite during repairs.
Insert a SIM eject tool, bit, or a straightened paper clip into the SIM card tray hole.
Press firmly, but avoid damaging the tray — risk of deformation.
Continue pressing until the SIM card tray is ejected.
Apply iOpener to the bottom edge of the screen for 2 minutes.
Risk of damage to screen and internal components: do not insert pick beyond the dark black border.
Apply a suction cup near the center of the bottom edge.
This process may be difficult for older phones. If stuck, apply more heat and try again.
If the screen is badly cracked, cover it with clear packing tape to aid suction cup adhesion or use very strong tape as an alternative.
Apply heated iOpener to the right edge of the screen for 2 minutes.
Insert the opening pick at the bottom right corner and rotate it to loosen the adhesive.
Insert a new opening pick into the bottom right corner.
Apply a heated iOpener to the top edge of the screen for 2 minutes.
Insert the opening pick into the top right corner and rotate it to loosen the adhesive.
Insert a new opening pick into the top right corner.
Heating the display can cause damage.
Fragile corners require gentle handling.
Insert a new opening pick at the top left corner of the device.
Be extremely cautious around the sharp corner, which is highly prone to damage.
Locate the adhesive strip securing the screen near the top right corner.
Apply heat from an iOpener to the top right corner of the screen for 2 minutes.
Insert a strong opening pick into the gap between the screen and the frame on the top right side.
Risk of screen damage exists — work with care.
Check if the screen is separated from the frame. If there's resistance around the edges, use an opening pick to remove remaining adhesive.
Keep track of each screw and ensure it returns to its original location.
Do not mix up screw sizes and types during disassembly.
Remove the bottom bracket using tweezers or your fingers.
Do not pry against the battery.
To reattach, align and press one side until it clicks, then repeat on the other. Avoid pressing in the middle to prevent pin bending.
Locate the screen press connector and position a spudger under its short edge, facing downwards.
Be precise in your insertion point to avoid damaging surface-mounted components on the logic board.
Remove the screen.
The back of the Pixel's screen is very fragile and can be damaged by small scratches or dents.
During reassembly, perform the following:
Do not reuse a sticky or damaged top right adhesive.
Use a spudger to carefully pry up and disconnect the bottom interconnect cable press connector.
Be careful not to lose the 2.2 mm screw securing the lower board.
Keep the bottom interconnect cable out of the way by hand or use tape with light adhesive.
Locate the left alignment peg on the device's casing.
Push down firmly to engage the spring connectors, ensuring secure attachment of the lower board.
Apply heat carefully to avoid thermal damage.
Identify six stretch release adhesive strips securing the battery to the frame.
Do not puncture or bend the battery as it may leak hazardous chemicals or catch fire.
Slowly pull each stretch release adhesive strip out at a low angle, giving them time to stretch and un-stick from under the battery.
Do not pry under the battery — risk of damaging internal components.
Check if all six stretch release adhesive strips separated cleanly.
Position the phone at an angle, allowing the isopropyl alcohol to seep underneath the battery.
Be patient and wait for exactly 1 minute for the adhesive to be sufficiently softened.
Risk of chemical leakage or fire if the battery is punctured or bent.
Adjust the opening pick to position its long edge within the gap.
Apply strong, steady pressure with the suction cup while using an opening pick to pry up the battery.
Remove any remaining tape from the bottom interconnect cable.
Lift the battery out of its recess and remove it completely.
If no custom cut adhesive strips are available, use double-sided tape like Tesa Tape to secure the battery to the frame.
