Step 1 | Safety Precautions

Step 1 image

Never start this repair with a fully charged battery — risk of thermal runaway.

  • Allow the battery to drain below 25% before proceeding.

Power off your device completely and disconnect all charging cables.

Step 2 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 2 image

Place phone on a clean, smooth surface with back glass facing up.

  • Apply an iOpener to the bottom edge of the back glass for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but be cautious not to cause damage to displays and/or internal batteries.

Step 3 | Anti-Clamp instructions

The Anti-Clamp may require a special technique; refer to the Anti-Clamp guide for instructions.

  • Pull the blue handle backwards to unlock the Anti-Clamp's arms.
  • Unfold your phone and slide the Anti-Clamp arms over the left edge of the back glass, below the Google "G" logo.

Position the suction cups carefully: avoid touching the bezel with the inner screen cup to ensure proper adhesion.

  • Attach one suction cup to the front and another to the back of the phone, near the bottom edge.
  • Squeeze the cups together to apply suction to the desired area.

If necessary, use tape to create a grippier surface; packing tape can help the suction cups adhere if the glass is cracked.

Step 4

Step 4 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Place a stable object under your phone.

  • Position the Anti-Clamp's arms around the object, ensuring the device is level.

If the arms are not properly aligned, realign them before proceeding.

  • Pull the blue handle forward to lock the arms in place.
  • Turn the handle clockwise until the suction cups start to stretch (360 degrees).

Monitor the suction cups for alignment; if they slip, detach and realign the arms.

Step 5

Step 5 image

Insert an opening pick into the gap under the back glass.

Do not crank more than a quarter turn at a time, or apply excessive heat.

  • If necessary, rotate the Anti-Clamp handle a quarter turn and wait one minute before reapplying pressure.

Step 6 | Insert an opening pick

Step 6 image

Thumbnail 3

Apply a suction cup near the center of the bottom edge.

  • Pull up on the suction cup with strong force to create a gap.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Difficulty may vary depending on phone age. Apply more heat if necessary.

If back glass is cracked, try using packing tape or strong tape for better adhesion.

As a last resort, superglue the suction cup to the broken back glass.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom adhesive
