The following steps will replace the front camera for your Google Pixel Fold's foldable screen.

Note that some photos in this guide show different states of disassembly, but these do not impact the guide procedure.

Step 1 | Safety Precautions

Step 1 image

Let the battery discharge below 25% charge before commencing this repair, as a fully charged battery may ignite during damage.

  • Power down the device completely.
  • Disconnect all connected cables.

Step 2 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 2 image

Place the phone on a clean surface, back glass facing up.

  • Apply an iOpener to the bottom edge of the back glass for two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate-but exercise extreme caution to avoid damaging displays and/or internal batteries.

Step 3 | Anti-Clamp instructions

Step 3 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Using the Anti-Clamp: skip to step 6 for an alternate method.

  • Pull the blue handle backwards to unlock the Anti-Clamp's arms.
  • Unfold your phone and slide the Anti-Clamp arms over the left edge of the back glass, below the Google "G" logo.

Position suction cups carefully: avoid the inner screen bezel to ensure proper adhesion.

  • Place one suction cup on the front and one on the back near the bottom edge of the phone.
  • Squeeze the cups together to apply suction to the desired area.

For smooth surfaces, use tape to create a grippier surface; for cracked glass, use packing tape to aid adhesion.

Step 4

Step 4 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Place an object under your phone, such as a box or stack of books.

  • Position the phone between the Anti-Clamp's arms so it rests level.
  • Hold the blue handle forward to lock the arms in place.
  • Anti-Clamp Handle: Turn clockwise 360 degrees or until the cups start to stretch.
  • Ensure the suction cups remain aligned with each other. If they begin to slip out of alignment, detach and realign the arms to avoid misalignment issues.

Step 5

Step 5 image

Insert an opening pick into the gap under the back glass.

  • If the Anti-Clamp doesn't create a sufficient gap, apply more heat and rotate the handle a quarter turn.
  • Crank no more than a quarter turn at a time, waiting one minute between turns.
  • The Anti-Clamp and time will do the work for you. Do not over-tighten.

Step 6 | Insert an opening pick

Step 6 image

Thumbnail 3

Applying too much pressure can cause damage or shattering.

  • Attach a suction cup near the center of the bottom edge of the back glass.
  • Pull up firmly to create a gap between the back glass and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

If difficulty is experienced, apply more heat to the edge before retrying.

  • If the back glass is severely cracked, cover it with clear packing tape for better suction.
  • Alternatively, use very strong adhesive instead of a suction cup or superglue it in place.

Step 7 | Separate the bottom adhesive

Step 7 image
