A fully charged battery poses a fire hazard if damaged during the repair.
Place phone on clean surface with back glass facing up.
Proceed with care - extreme heat can damage displays or internal batteries.
Next three steps demonstrate Anti-Clamp, designed to ease opening procedure.
If not using Anti-Clamp, skip down three steps for alternate method.
Unlock Anti-Clamp's arms by pulling blue handle backwards.
Ensure inner screen suction cup doesn't touch bezel for proper adhesion.
Squeeze cups together to apply suction. If necessary, use tape:
Position your phone on a support, such as a box or books, ensuring it's level between the Anti-Clamp's arms.
Insert an opening pick into the gap under the back glass.
If the Anti-Clamp does not create a sufficient gap, apply more heat and rotate the handle a quarter turn.
Apply a suction cup near the center of the bottom edge.
Badly cracked back glass may require additional measures: clear packing tape or strong tape for better adhesion.
Risk of damage: do not insert the opening pick deeper than 3.5 mm.
Heat the iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the back glass for 2 minutes.
Rotate the opening pick clockwise around the bottom left corner to gently pry and separate the adhesive.
Apply a iOpener preheated according to its instructions to the top edge of the back glass for 2 minutes.
Insert the opening pick into the top left corner and rotate it gently to loosen the adhesive.
Apply iOpener to the right edge of the back glass and heat for 2 minutes.
Apply moderate heat and handle the area with care around the sharp corner.
Insert a fourth opening pick into the top right corner.
The corner is extremely fragile, use plenty of heat and be very gentle.
Do not fully remove the back glass yet, as it is still connected to the phone by a cable.
Identify each screw and track its location for accurate reassembly.
Use tweezers or your fingers to pull the middle bracket toward the left edge of the phone and release its clip.
Use a spudger to pry up the back glass cable from the motherboard.
Avoid pressing in the middle and never force a misaligned connector, as this can cause permanent damage to the pins.
Remove the back glass.
Remove big chunks of adhesive from the back glass perimeter using tweezers.
If no custom cut strips are used, secure the back glass to the using double-sided tape (e.g. Tesa Tape).
The graphite sheet is fragile; handle with care when peeling.
When reassembling:
Use a pair of tweezers or a clean fingernail to carefully remove the black screw cover from the top screw located on the bottom bracket.
Remove the Torx Plus 3IP driver from its storage.
Release the bottom bracket's clip using tweezers or your fingers.
Remove the grey conductive tape from the bottom interconnect cable.
Disconnect both cable connectors to prevent accidental short circuits.
Replace the flip battery and bottom interconnect cable conductive tape during reassembly.
Press down the conductive tape using a spudger or your fingers.
Remove any tape covering the graphite sheet.
Insert an opening pick between the ultra-wideband antenna and the graphite sheet.
Gently pry the antenna away from the graphite sheet, taking care not to damage either component.
Peel up the ultra wideband antenna and remove it.
Insert an opening pick into the top edge of the graphite sheet.
Peel the graphite sheet off the logic board.
Use tweezers to carefully remove any remaining adhesive from the logic board.
Avoid prying against the battery with a spudger — risk of damage.
During reassembly: if adhesive is still intact, you can reuse it. Otherwise, see our guide on replacing adhesive.
Risk of damaging surface-mounted components — avoid prying against the logic board.
Remove the protective tape from the top interconnect cable.
Press down conductive tape firmly using a spudger or fingers to secure.
Insert a Torx Plus 3IP driver into the 2.8 mm-long screw and turn counterclockwise to loosen.
Then, insert the same driver into the 2.5 mm-long screw and turn counterclockwise to loosen.
Do not attempt to separate the metal bracket from the press connector.
Risk of damage to small components on logic board.
Remove the Torx Plus 3IP driver and use it to unscrew the two middleground retaining screws, each 2.8 mm long.
Risk of damaging the 5G mmWave antenna — handle with care.
If adhesive is still intact and sticky during reassembly, you can reuse it. Otherwise, follow the replacement guide.
Do not insert the spudger anywhere except under the bottom right corner of the front camera press connector.
Apply gentle heat to the front camera using an iOpener for 2 minutes.
Avoid overheating the device by spreading heat evenly and not concentrating it in one spot.
Use tweezers to grasp the front camera by its connector, near the camera body.
Do not bend or damage the press connector's pins.
If your original adhesive is still intact, you can reuse it for reassembly. Otherwise, follow this guide to replace it.
Use a Torx Plus 3IP driver to remove the two screws.
Secure the Fingerprint sensor cable, Top interconnect cable, and Inner screen cable using light adhesive tape, such as painter's tape.
Insert the flat end of the spudger into the top of the logic board, near the front camera recess.
The logic board is fragile and prone to damage; handle with care.
Use the flat-end spudger to scrape off thermal paste from the logic board and frame.
Use the flat end of a spudger to evenly spread new thermal paste during reassembly, matching original coverage.
Follow the provided guide for correct thermal paste application during reassembly.
Insert the USB-C port at a shallow angle into its cutout in the frame.
Press down on the USB-C port until the orange rubber gasket is level with its cutout, not twisted or pinched.
Press the logic board firmly into its lower metal clip as you push it toward the bottom edge of the phone.
Position the logic board bracket securely under the frame's edge.
Ensure all cables are above the logic board. If not secured with tape, do so now to prevent damage.
Move the flip battery and bottom interconnect cable away from the battery.
Be careful not to crease the cable — risk of damage.
Bend or puncture the battery at all costs — risk of chemical leak or fire.
Use a pair of blunt nose tweezers to peel the clear plastic pull tabs away from the battery.
Unfold the phone and flip it over.
Use caution when applying high temperatures to avoid damaging the display or battery.
Adhesive under the battery is extremely strong — careful removal is essential.
Closed your phone already?
If still struggling or fear damage to battery, proceed to the next five steps for an alternate method.
Never puncture or bend the battery with your tool — risk of fire or chemical leak.
Position the phone with the left side tilted upwards.
Puncturing or bending the battery can lead to chemical leakage and fire hazards.
Position the opening pick at an angle, with its longest edge seated within the gap.
If you feel excessive resistance, add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol and try again.
Remove the battery from its recess.
During reassembly, ensure the adhesive is intact and sticky; otherwise, replace it with custom-cut strips or apply Tesa Tape for temporary support.
