Allow the battery to drain to below 25% to prevent potential fires.

  • Disconnect all cables from the phone.
  • Purge any remaining power by pressing and holding the Power button until shutdown is complete.

Step 2 | Safety precautions

Step 2 image

Cracked glass can cause injury and complicate disassembly.

  • Apply overlapping packing tape strips to the cracked glass, covering it completely for suction cup adhesion.
  • Only cover the glass itself, avoiding the frame.

Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from flying debris during repair.

Step 3 | Heat the top edge

Step 3 image

Adhesive may require significant heat to soften.

  • Reheat the screen if separation is difficult.

Apply heat using a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot mat to the top edge of the screen until almost too hot to touch.

Be cautious not to overheat, as the battery and plastic components may be damaged by excessive heat. Stop heating if the frame becomes too hot to handle.

  • If using a hot mat, set it to 80° C (176° F) and place the phone screen-side down for 10 minutes.

Step 4 | Apply a suction handle

Step 4 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2

Apply a suction handle to the center of the screen's top edge.

Step 5 | Insert your tool under the screen

Step 5 image

Never insert tools deeper than 2 mm to avoid damaging the front camera.

  • Insert the tip of a Jimmy into the speaker cutout on top, or use a similar thin metal tool.
  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong force while lowering the Jimmy until it slides under the screen.
  • If your tool gets stuck, reheat the screen and try again.

Step 6 | Insert an opening pick

Step 6 image

Step 11 | Heat the bottom edge

Step 11 image

Apply heat from a hair dryer or heat gun to the bottom edge of the screen.

Step 12 | Separate the bottom edge adhesive

Step 12 image

Thumbnail 2

Insert an opening pick under the bottom edge of the screen, sliding it along to separate the adhesive.

Leave the pick in place at the bottom left corner to prevent re-adhesion.

Step 13 | Heat the left edge

Step 13 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Apply gentle heat from a hair dryer or heat gun to the left edge of the screen.

Step 14 | Separate the left edge adhesive

Step 14 image

Avoid inserting the pick too close to the left edge's center — risk of damaging the screen cable.

  • Slide the opening pick along the left edge to detach the adhesive securing it.

Step 15 | Lay the screen flat

Step 15 image

Thumbnail 2

Swing the screen over the left edge of your phone, as if opening a book.

Use caution: if lifting the screen is met with significant resistance, employ an opening pick to gently pry away any remaining adhesive.

Step 16 | Remove the cable cover screw

Step 16 image

Be extremely cautious when handling the exposed battery.

  • Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screw using a screwdriver with Torx tip.

Allow extra time for this step, as proper cleaning ensures a strong bond between the new adhesive and the frame.

  • Use a spudger and tweezers to carefully scrape off any remaining screen adhesive from the perimeter of the frame.
  • Clean the affected areas with high-concentration isopropyl alcohol (>90%) and a lint-free cloth or coffee filter.
  • Be cautious not to damage the silver foam pads near the phone's edges.

Step 22 | Find the adhesive orientation

Step 22 image

Thumbnail 2

Check if the replacement screen has pre-installed adhesive around its perimeter.

  • If it does, skip the next six steps.

If not, follow these steps carefully to install new screen adhesive on the frame incorrectly and you will need to start over.

  • Before applying adhesive, ensure you know its orientation on the frame.
  • Holding the adhesive above the frame, use cutouts in the liner to visualize how it will lay in place.

Step 23 | Peel the liner halfway down

Step 23 image

Peel down the top half of the large, clear liner to expose the adhesive.

Do not fully remove the liner yet.

Step 24 | Apply the adhesive

Step 24 image

Inspect your replacement screen for various protective liners and pieces of tape on the underside.

  • Verify that no tape is obstructing the front camera.
  • Check if the screen cable is being held in place by tape or liner.

Do not remove any liners from the screen adhesive around the perimeter yet, as this may damage the seal.

Step 29

Step 29 image

Thumbnail 3

Remove any tape from the front camera cutout using your fingers.

  • If tape covers the connector, use tweezers to carefully remove it.
  • Be gentle when handling the screen cable to avoid damage.

Step 30

Step 30 image

Handle the screen's copper underside with extreme care as it is extremely fragile and prone to damage from even minor scratches.

Remove any liners covering the bottom of the screen carefully to expose this area.

Avoid touching this sensitive area with your tools throughout the repair process.

Step 31 | Lay the screen down

Step 31 image

Position the new screen assembly, display side down, near the phone.

  • Align it to the left for easy access to the cable connector.

Remove the final adhesive liner from the screen's perimeter using tweezers or fingers.

  • If adhesive was applied directly to the frame, remove the remaining liner while holding the screen out of the way, being careful not to strain the cable.
  • Be cautious: If the adhesive starts peeling up with the liner, verify that all adhesive is seated properly. If it continues to peel, gently press down on it with a spudger as you proceed.

Step 36 | Put the screen onto the frame

Step 36 image

Secure the adhesive by firmly pressing around the perimeter of the screen.

  • You can also strengthen the bond by holding your phone upright and squeezing firmly.
  • For an even stronger bond, lay your phone screen-down on a clean surface under some books overnight.

When powering on your phone for the first time, ensure no objects touch the screen while removing the plastic liner.

  • Lay the phone screen-side up on a clean, flat surface.
  • Remove the plastic liner carefully to avoid damaging the screen or other components.
