Replacing any of the rear cameras will compromise the phone's water resistance.
You'll need the following parts to complete this repair:
Make sure the battery level is below 25% to avoid a potential fire hazard.
Locate the adhesive securing the rear cover to the frame.
Attach a suction handle to the bottom edge of the rear cover, positioning it as near to the edge as feasible.
Use your thumbs to pull upwards firmly but carefully on the suction handle.
Once a small gap appears under the rear cover, insert the tip of an opening pick into it.
Do not insert the opening pick deeper than 3 mm.
Run your pick along the right edge, sliding it gently to loosen any remaining adhesive.
Do not remove the rear cover fully yet.
Check for remaining adhesive around the perimeter and use an opening pick to separate it if necessary.
Keep track of each screw and ensure it returns to its original location.
Apply caution: using incorrect tools or excessive force may damage the device.
Do not damage the spring contacts under the top left edge of the wireless charging assembly.
Remove the rear cover.
Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver from storage.
Remove the cable cover using tweezers or your fingers.
Position the spudger under the right edge of the battery press connector and carefully pry upwards to release the connection.
Use a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver to remove the 5.4mm-long screw holding the mmWave antenna cover in place.
Grasp the cover near the right edge and gently pull towards the bottom of the phone.
During reassembly, align the two tabs on the top corners with their recesses in the frame before pushing down to secure the cover.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to carefully pry up the front facing camera press connector.
Avoid touching the cameras during this step; if accidental contact occurs, clean with a microfiber or lint-free cloth.
Remove the mmWave antenna using tweezers or your fingers.
Ensure proper placement during reassembly: position the mmWave antenna under the front facing camera cable.
Use the flat end of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the press connector near the bottom left corner of the logic board.
Position the opening pick under the top edge of the press connector, near the bottom right corner of the logic board.
Avoid damaging small surface-mounted components to the right of the connector.
Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and use it to take out the 5.4mm-long screw holding the antenna cover in place.
Remove the cover with tweezers or your fingers.
Use the point of a spudger to pry up the autofocus sensor press connector from the top left corner.
Slide one arm of angled tweezers under metal neck of antenna connector.
For reconnect, hold connector in place over socket and press down gently with finger or spudger. Connector should "snap" into place.
Use a spudger to pry up the top edge of the logic board.
When reassembling, hold the front facing camera cable out of the way to avoid trapping any cables underneath the logic board.
Thermal pad damage can cause overheating issues.
Use a spudger with caution: risk of damage to surrounding components.
Thermal pad residue can cause electrical issues if left behind.
Be cautious when disconnecting cameras to avoid damaging small components.
Flip the logic board over carefully, ensuring the bottom side faces upwards.
Hold the logic board with one hand.
Careful not to overheat the autofocus sensor or damage its plastic housing.
Apply a heated iOpener to the top of the rear cameras or use a hair dryer to lightly heat the sensor.
Slide the flat-end spudger under the bottom right corner of the autofocus sensor, near the cable, to start separating the adhesive.
Remove the autofocus sensor using your fingers.
Remove the clear plastic liner from the replacement autofocus sensor adhesive.
Never touch the camera lenses, risk of damage.
