Allow the battery to completely discharge before proceeding, as a charged lithium-ion battery may catch fire if damaged.
Apply adhesive around the perimeter of the rear cover to secure it to the frame.
Attach a suction handle to the bottom edge of the rear cover, positioning it as close to the edge as feasible.
Apply firm pressure to the suction handle using a gentle rocking motion.
Insert an opening pick into the bottom edge.
Insert the opening pick into the left edge of the device and gently slide it upwards, along the top edge, to loosen the adhesive.
Hold the pick vertically and slide it down the right edge of the device.
Do not remove the rear cover entirely yet — the right edge is connected by a ribbon cable.
Record the location of each screw to ensure proper reinstallation.
Take extra care when removing the wireless charging assembly to avoid damaging the spring contacts underneath.
Insert opening pick under rear cover press connector, near left edge.
Remove the rear cover.
Remove the cable cover using either tweezers or your fingers.
Use a spudger to carefully pry the battery press connector upwards, starting from the right edge.
Remove the mmWave antenna cover using a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver.
Ensure correct Torx bit size to avoid stripping the screw head.
Use a spudger to gently pry up the mmWave antenna cover by inserting its tip under the bottom left corner clip.
Pull the cover towards the bottom of the phone from the right edge.
During reassembly, ensure the cover is securely clipped in place.
Locate the mmWave antenna press connector in the top right corner of the logic board.
Use the tip of a spudger to carefully lift and release the front-facing camera press connector.
Avoid touching the cameras as their sensitivity may be compromised.
Remove the mmWave antenna using tweezers or your fingers.
Disconnect the press connector near the bottom left corner using the flat end of a spudger.
Insert the opening pick under the top edge of the press connector, near the bottom right corner of the logic board.
Be careful not to damage the small, surface-mounted components to the right of the connector.
Use a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver to remove the two 4.3 mm-long screws.
Locate the charging board cover and grasp it with your fingers.
Pull the right edge of the cover toward the top of the phone to release the left side clip.
Take extra care when handling the charging board to avoid damaging its surface-mounted components.
Remove the left interconnect cable with your fingers.
Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and use it to unscrew the two 2.5mm screws on the bottom of the right interconnect cable.
Remove the right interconnect cable with your fingers.
Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screw from the antenna cover using the provided tool.
Remove the cover with tweezers or your fingers.
Remove the autofocus sensor press connector using a spudger.
Be careful not to damage the socket or surrounding components.
The connector should "snap" into place; if not, reposition the head and try again.
Use a spudger to pry up the top edge of the logic board.
Be careful not to snag the front facing camera and battery cables
During reassembly, hold the front facing camera cable out of the way and lower the logic board into place.
Check the logic board thermal pad condition.
Apply a new thermal pad to its spot on the frame.
Peel up plastic tabs near bottom edge with fingers.
Read and understand the next three steps before proceeding.
Firmly secure the phone to your work surface using F‐Clamps or C‐Clamps, ensuring nothing is under it.
For accessibility:
Use clamps with plastic or rubber pads to prevent scuffing, or take extra care if this is not possible.
Do not reuse a deformed or damaged battery as it is a fire hazard.
If the pull tab breaks or slips out during removal, proceed to the next step for an alternate method.
Excessive use of isopropyl alcohol can damage the screen.
Apply 2-3 drops of >90% isopropyl alcohol to the lower corners of the battery.
Allow the alcohol to sit for one minute, allowing it to soften the battery adhesive.
For battery removal, use a heavy-duty suction cup or a smaller suction handle (suction handle). If using the smaller suction handle, apply it to the bottom edge and skip ahead two steps.
Press the suction cup firmly onto the screen while simultaneously pulling the handle upwards.
Secure your phone firmly with one hand on a work surface.
Apply constant pressure to allow time for adhesive separation.
Wait one minute. If no movement, proceed to:
Never reuse a deformed or damaged battery — it's a fire hazard.
Replace with a new battery.
Remove all old battery adhesive from the frame using a spudger.
Remove any tape or liners from the battery cable.
Firmly press the battery into its recess — risk of damage if not secured properly.
