Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Wireless Charging Assembly Replacement

This repair guide, authored by iFixit staff, is not endorsed by Google. Read more about our guides here. To replace the wireless charging assembly in your Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, follow these steps: If your phone's wireless charging is faulty, this may be a necessary fix.

Note that any repair can compromise water resistance; reapplying rear cover adhesive correctly will determine post-repair performance.

Step 1 | Safety precautions

A fully charged lithium-ion battery can be hazardous, so let it discharge to at least 25%.

  • Completely power down the device by pressing the Power button.
  • Disconnect all cables connected to the phone.

Avoid inserting the tool more than 3 mm under the rear cover to prevent damage.

  • Measure 3 mm from the tool tip and mark with a permanent marker or tape a coin in this position.
  • Use a pick as a guide to carefully separate the adhesive.

Step 3 | Apply a suction handle

Attach a suction handle to the bottom edge of the rear cover, as close to the edge as possible.

Step 4 | Insert an opening pick

Grasp the suction handle firmly and pull upwards with consistent pressure.

  • Create a small opening by inserting the pointed end of an opening pick into the gap.

Step 5 | Separate the rear cover adhesive

Do not insert the opening pick deeper than 3mm.

  • Slide the opening pick along the bottom edge to separate the adhesive.

Use an opening pick to pry the adhesive loose, starting from the left edge and moving along the top edge.

Slide pick along right edge to release remaining adhesive.

Step 8 | Prop up the rear cover

Do not remove the rear cover yet — a ribbon cable connects it to the phone.

  • Lift the left edge of the rear cover using the suction handle and swing it over the right edge, as if opening a book.
  • If having trouble, check for remaining adhesive around the perimeter and use your pick to separate it.

Be careful not to damage the ribbon cable near the top right corner.

Step 9 | Remove the cable cover

Remove the cable cover with a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver.

  • Target the two 5.2 mm screws
  • Turn them counterclockwise to release

Remove the cable cover using tweezers or your fingers.

Step 11 | Disconnect the rear cover

Insert the pointed end of the spudger under the rear cover press connector and gently pry it up.

  • Make sure the spudger tip is securely positioned before prying.
  • The connector should release with a slight push, disconnecting from its socket.

Step 12 | Remove the rear cover

Remove the rear cover.

Step 13 | Peel up the cable cover tape

Peel back the tape near the left edge using a spudger tip and fingers.

  • Expose the bracket and screws beneath.

Note: Remove the tape completely if desired, but retain it for reassembly purposes.

Step 14 | Remove the cable cover

Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and use it to take out the two 5.2 mm screws securing the wireless charging cable cover.

Remove the cover with tweezers or your fingers.

Step 16 | Disconnect the wireless charging assembly

Insert the opening pick under the wireless charging press-connector and gently pry it loose.

Use the point of a spudger to carefully pry up and disconnect the ultra-wideband press connector.

Step 18 | Remove the wireless charging assembly screws

Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver's two screws, each measuring 2.2 mm long.

  • The screws secure the wireless charging assembly.

Step 19 | Remove the wireless charging assembly
