This repair guide, authored by iFixit staff, is not endorsed by Google. Read more about our guides here. To replace the wireless charging assembly in your Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, follow these steps: If your phone's wireless charging is faulty, this may be a necessary fix.
Note that any repair can compromise water resistance; reapplying rear cover adhesive correctly will determine post-repair performance.
A fully charged lithium-ion battery can be hazardous, so let it discharge to at least 25%.
Avoid inserting the tool more than 3 mm under the rear cover to prevent damage.
Attach a suction handle to the bottom edge of the rear cover, as close to the edge as possible.
Grasp the suction handle firmly and pull upwards with consistent pressure.
Do not insert the opening pick deeper than 3mm.
Use an opening pick to pry the adhesive loose, starting from the left edge and moving along the top edge.
Slide pick along right edge to release remaining adhesive.
Do not remove the rear cover yet — a ribbon cable connects it to the phone.
Be careful not to damage the ribbon cable near the top right corner.
Remove the cable cover with a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver.
Remove the cable cover using tweezers or your fingers.
Insert the pointed end of the spudger under the rear cover press connector and gently pry it up.
Remove the rear cover.
Peel back the tape near the left edge using a spudger tip and fingers.
Note: Remove the tape completely if desired, but retain it for reassembly purposes.
Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver and use it to take out the two 5.2 mm screws securing the wireless charging cable cover.
Remove the cover with tweezers or your fingers.
Insert the opening pick under the wireless charging press-connector and gently pry it loose.
Use the point of a spudger to carefully pry up and disconnect the ultra-wideband press connector.
Remove the Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver's two screws, each measuring 2.2 mm long.
Remove the wireless charging assembly.
