  • Follow this guide to replace the outer screen on your Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

Step 1 image

Let the phone's battery drain to below 25% charge to prevent potential damage or fire.

  • Disconnect all cables from the phone, including charging port, SIM card tray, and other peripherals.
  • Press and hold the power button until the screen turns off completely.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Step 2 image

Thumbnail 3

Apply a suction cup near the center of the bottom edge.

  • Pull up with strong force to create a gap between the screen and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.
  • If your screen is badly cracked, apply clear packing tape for better suction or use very strong tape instead of the suction cup.

Step 3 | Separate the adhesive

Step 3 image

Thumbnail 3

Do not insert the opening pick deeper than 3 mm to avoid damaging internal components.

Inserting too far can cause damage, so be cautious with depth.

  • Optionally, mark your opening pick at 3 mm from the tip for better visualization.
  • Slide the opening pick around the bottom right corner and up the right edge of the screen to separate the adhesive.

Step 4

Release the opening pick from the underside of the screen, leaving just the tip in place.

  • Slide the pick across the top edge of the screen to reach the point beyond the front camera.
  • Push the pick back to its original depth before proceeding further.

  • Don't fully remove the screen yet — it's still connected by a cable.
  • The screen should be free from the frame; if stuck, use an opening pick to separate remaining adhesive.
  • Lift the right edge of the screen and swing it over the left edge of the phone, like opening a book.
  • Prop up the screen with your suction handle or a sturdy object.

Step 9 | Remove the display cable bracket screw

Step 9 image

Keep track of each screw and ensure it returns to its original position.

  • When using Torx bits, apply constant downward force to prevent stripping.
  • For T3 or T4 Torx Plus screws, use the same size or one larger (e.g., T3 with 3IP Torx Plus).

Using standard Torx may damage screw head threads.

Remove the display cable bracket's 2.2 mm long screw using a Torx Plus 3IP driver.

Step 10
