A fully charged lithium-ion battery can be hazardous, so let the battery level drop to less than 25%
If your phone's back cover is badly cracked, cover it with clear packing tape for a better grip.
Alternatively, use very strong tape or superglue the suction cup directly to the broken back cover if necessary.
Do not insert the opening pick deeper than 3mm to prevent damaging metal springs.
Remove the suction handle from the back cover.
Slide the pick along the top left corner, then continue to the top edge of the back cover.
The adhesive along the right edge is thicker; start with an insertion depth of at least 4 mm.
Leave the back cover partially attached, as the cable is still connected.
If edges are stuck, use an opening pick to gently pry off remaining adhesive.
Hold the bottom edge of the back cover and swing it over the top edge of the phone.
Use a suction handle or a clean object to prop up the back cover, ensuring the cable isn't strained.
Keep track of each screw throughout this repair.
Forcing a stripped screw can lead to further damage and complications.
Use tweezers or your fingers to gently pull the top bracket towards the top of the phone.
Avoid inserting the spudger elsewhere to prevent dislodging surface-mounted components.
Remove the back cover from the frame.
Remove the base battery bracket using a Torx Plus 3IP driver.
Locate the gold marker on the base battery press connector.
Lift the inner front camera bracket using tweezers or your fingers toward the left edge, releasing its clips.
Use a spudger to gently pry up and disconnect the inner front camera press connector.
Use the point of a spudger to carefully pry up the inner front camera.
Risk of damage if pried incorrectly.
Proceed with reassembly of your device.
Use tweezers or your fingers to carefully remove the old adhesive foam from the inner front camera cutout.
Use this solution to carefully wipe away any adhesive residue.
Remove the replacement adhesive foam from its clear liner.
Press along the edges of the adhesive foam with the tip of a spudger.
Peel off the colored liner from the tape using either tweezers or your fingers.
Hold the inner front camera above its cutout.
Realign the inner front camera bracket clip to its slot on the logic board.
Install the two inner front camera bracket screws using a Torx Plus 3IP driver.
Reconnect the base battery press connector.
Align the base battery bracket clip with its slot on the logic board.
Remove the old back cover adhesive using a spudger or your fingers.
Remove the three rear camera liners from the inside of the new back cover using tweezers or your fingers.
Remove any remaining clear liners from the exterior of the back cover.
Check that the adhesive matches the frame.
Careful not to stick the adhesive in the wrong spot.
Press down the top edge of the adhesive with the flat end of a spudger or your fingers
Slowly peel away the remaining clear liner and align the rest of the adhesive along the phone's perimeter.
Press the remaining adhesive into place using the flat end of a spudger or your fingers.
Use a spudger to pry up the segmented tab on the bottom right corner.
If any adhesive peels up, gently lay it back on the frame and use the flat end of a spudger to secure it.
Do not force the back cover cable into its socket — risk of damage.
Align the top bracket clip's screw hole with its slot on the logic board.
Insert the Torx Plus 3IP driver into the socket and turn clockwise to secure the 3.0 mm-long screw on the top bracket.
Use the tip of a spudger to gently lift the segmented tab at the top right corner of the secondary liner.
Remove the secondary liner from the adhesive.
If the adhesive starts peeling up with the liner, carefully reapply and use a spudger to secure it.
Press the back cover onto the frame, aligning the top edges.
Press the back cover along its perimeter to secure it.
