Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold Flip and Base Battery Replacement

  • The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold's flip and base batteries must be replaced simultaneously.
  • To do this, you'll need to disassemble both sides of your phone and then reassemble it.

Step 1 | Prepare your phone for disassembly

Ensure the battery is at least 25% drained to avoid potential fire hazard from a damaged lithium-ion battery.

  • Disconnect all cables and power off the device completely.

Apply a suction cup to the back cover's bottom edge, centered as possible.

  • Pull up on the suction cup with strong force while securing the phone in one hand.
  • Create a gap between the back cover and frame.

If your back cover is badly cracked, apply clear packing tape for better adhesion or use strong tape instead of a suction cup. As a last resort, superglue the suction cup to the broken back cover.

  • Insert an opening pick into the gap created.

Do not insert the opening pick more than 3 mm deep, as this may damage the metal springs.

  • Mark the opening pick at 3 mm to help guide its depth.
  • Remove the suction handle from the back cover.
  • Slide the opening pick around the bottom left corner and up the left edge of the back cover to separate the adhesive.

Slide the pick along the top left corner, then continue to guide it across the top edge of the back cover.

Insert opening pick into thicker adhesive on right edge, aiming for 4 mm or more.

  • Guide pick along right edge and around bottom right corner to loosen remaining adhesive.

Do not fully remove the back cover yet as it is still connected by a cable.

  • The back cover should be free from the frame at this point.
  • If there's resistance around the edges, use an opening pick to separate remaining adhesive.
  • Lift the bottom edge of the back cover and swing it over the top edge of the phone.
  • Prop up the back cover with a suction handle or sturdy object, ensuring the cable isn't strained.

Keep track of each screw during this repair, ensuring it returns to its original location.

  • Use either Torx or Torx Plus bits; standard Torx works with 3IP screws.
  • Apply constant downward force when using a T3 or T4 Torx bit with 3IP screw.
  • Use a Torx Plus 3IP driver to remove the top bracket's 3.0 mm-long screw.
