How to Apply Flash Unit Adhesives in Your Google Pixel 8a

Step 1 | Apply the logic board cover adhesive

Remove conductive tape adhesive from top right corner of motherboard cover using tweezers.

  • Scrape up remaining bits of adhesive using flat end of spudger.
  • Apply a few drops of highly-concentrated isopropyl alcohol (over 90%) with pipette or syringe, then wipe away residue with microfiber cloth.

Remove the conductive tape's backing.

  • Place the tape in position, ensuring the tab is on the right side.
  • Use a spudger to press down and secure with its flat end.
  • Dispose of the remaining liner.

Step 3 | Apply the flash unit adhesive

Check the adhesive on the bottom of the flash unit for damage or loss of stickiness.

  • If undamaged and still sticky, skip to your original repair guide.
  • Else, proceed with replacing the adhesive using the next steps.

Be extremely cautious when handling the flash unit cable, as straining or tearing can cause damage.

  • Use a spudger and tweezers to carefully remove old adhesive from the bottom of the flash unit.
  • Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol (>90%) using a pipette or syringe, then wipe clean with a microfiber cloth.

Remove the flash unit adhesive from its clear liner.

  • Press the adhesive onto the bottom of the flash unit using the flat end of a spudger.
  • Peel away and discard the remaining liner.

Step 6

Press firmly on the flash unit until securely attached with adhesive.

  • Verify proper attachment before proceeding.
  • Continue with reassembly according to the original guide.
