Lithium-ion batteries have a limited lifespan and may need replacement if your phone doesn't hold a charge or dies unexpectedly.
You'll need to acquire the following parts to complete this repair: a replacement battery, back cover, and flash unit adhesives.
Any repair may compromise the water resistance of your phone. Proper reapplication of the back cover adhesive is crucial to retaining water resistance after the repair.
Allow the Pixel's battery to drain below 25% to prevent potential fire hazards.
Do not insert tools more than 3mm from edges unless specified.
Position the opening tool with its flat end angled, ensuring the sharp edge is facing upwards.
Use an opening tool to pry the back cover from the bottom edge, separating the adhesive.
Slide your opening tool around the bottom right corner and up the right edge, stopping at the bottom of the camera bump.
Do not press too hard on the edges or risk damaging the phone casing.
Remove your opening tool from under the back cover.
Insert your opening tool under the top right corner of the back cover.
Position the opening tool at the left edge of the back cover, near the camera.
Locate the adhesive strip at the bottom of the camera bump.
Apply equal pressure to both sides of the back cover using two picks.
Beware of bending the back cover.
Remove the back cover.
Heat the flash unit carefully to avoid damaging nearby components.
Do not apply excessive heat, as it can damage the battery and surrounding components.
Slide a pick under the top edge of the flash and lift to separate the adhesive.
Be careful not to slip and damage the fragile flash cable.
Keep track of each screw and ensure it returns to its original location.
Use a Torx Plus 3IP screwdriver for the logic board cover, as standard Torx bits may not fit properly; applying constant downward force will help prevent stripping.
Careful not to damage the spring contacts around your phone's perimeter.
Slowly lift the logic board cover's top edge.
Be careful not to damage the logic board or surrounding components during this process.
Remove the logic board cover, taking care not to damage the attached wireless charging coil.
Remove the metal cover on the right edge using tweezers or fingers.

Insert the flat end of a spudger under the right edge of the battery press connector and pry straight up.
Only pry where instructed to prevent damaging surface mounted components around the battery and 5G mmWave connectors.
Locate the 5G mmWave antenna press connector. Insert the point of a spudger under its bottom edge, then gently pry straight up to release.
Route the battery cable and 5G mmWave cable aside to access the area under the battery.
Move the graphite sheet gently to access the battery.
Fold the side button tab gently over the left edge of your phone to keep it away from the battery.
Don't concentrate heat on a single spot — risk of heat damage.
Insert opening pick into gap at left edge of battery, near frame.
Do not damage or puncture the battery — a damaged battery poses safety risks.
Use your opening pick to carefully separate the battery from its adhesive.
Remove old adhesive by scraping it into a ball using the flat end of your spudger.
Remove pre-installed adhesive liners if your battery has them.
Do not remove blue liners until adhesive is fully pressed in place.
Place the battery in its designated recess.
Ensure the side button tab is not trapped between the battery and the surrounding frame.
Firmly press the battery into place to secure it.
