Follow these steps to replace the screen adhesive and install a new screen on your Google Pixel 8 Pro. Ensure you've completed repairs and reassembled your phone up to this point before proceeding.
Remove all old screen adhesive and its residue for new adhesive to seal properly.
Be extremely careful not to damage the spring contacts during this process.
Apply highly-concentrated isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) to any remaining adhesive residue on the frame.
Ignore this step if replacing the screen.
Align the adhesive sheet with the clear liner facing downwards.
Note that there is a large cutout on the left side for the cable, and smaller cutouts along the bottom for the spring contacts.
Remove larger clear liner from the back of the sheet.
Careful positioning is crucial during this step — incorrect placement will necessitate redoing with new adhesive.
Do not remove liners until the adhesive is securely attached.
Gently lift the blue liner using the pull tab, but if any adhesive comes up, press it back down and use the flat end of a spudger to secure it.
Press the screen cable press connector firmly until it clicks into place.
Prop up the screen using a small box or stack of books.
Check that the front facing camera is securely seated in its recess.
Secure the screen by pressing firmly into the frame.
Ensure even pressure on the screen by accounting for the rear camera bump.
Avoid overpressing, which may damage the phone or screen.
Stack heavy objects, such as books, and leave them on the phone for at least 30 minutes. Ideally, leave overnight to ensure proper adhesion.
