Google Pixel 8 Pro Loudspeaker Replacement

Note: This repair guide is not endorsed by Google.

  • Follow this guide to replace the loudspeaker in your Google Pixel 8 Pro, if it's making distorted sounds or crackling noises.
  • You'll need replacement screen adhesive for this repair.

This guide is based on the 5G mmWave antenna model of the Pixel 8 Pro. If you have the non-mmWave version, skip steps mentioning the 5G mmWave antenna.

Step 1 | Prepare your Pixel for disassembly

Thumbnail 3

Identify the safe insertion point for the opening pick: measure 3 mm from the tip.

  • Inserting the pick too far can damage your device — be careful!

Mark the opening pick with a permanent marker at this point.
  • Alternatively, tape a coin to the opening pick 3 mm from the tip for visual reference.

Step 3 | Tape over a cracked screen

Step 3 image

Shards of broken glass can cause injury or complicate disassembly.

  • Apply overlapping strips of packing tape to cover the cracked screen, but only stick it to the glass itself, not the frame.
  • Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from flying glass particles during repair.

Step 4 | Heat the bottom edge adhesive

Step 4 image

Be cautious when using heat sources, as they may damage the screen and/or battery.

  • Lay an iOpener on the bottom edge of the screen for two minutes to soften the adhesive.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate – but take care not to apply extreme heat.

Step 5 | Secure the Anti-Clamp

Step 5 image

Thumbnail 3

Using the Anti-Clamp is optional; for an alternate method, skip down three steps.

  • To use the Anti-Clamp, follow the instructions in this guide: Anti-Clamp Guide.
  • Pull the blue handle backwards to unlock the Anti-Clamp's arms.
  • Place your phone screen side up on an object so it rests level between the Anti-Clamp's arms, with the bottom edge hanging off.
  • Slide the arms over the left edge of your phone for access to the bottom edge.
  • Position the suction cups as close to the center of the bottom edge as possible.
  • Squeeze the cups together to create suction.

Step 6 | Twist the handle

Step 6 image

Thumbnail 3

Wait one minute for a gap to form between the screen and frame.

  • If no separation, twist handle clockwise 1/4 turn & wait another minute.
  • Apply more heat if screen cools down.
  • Insert opening pick into gap (no more than 3 mm to avoid damaging spring contacts).

Careful: Avoid over-insertion of opening pick, risking damage to spring contacts.

Pull blue handle backwards to unlock arms and remove Anti-Clamp using suction cup tabs.

Step 8 | Apply a suction cup
