This guide was made using a Google Pixel 7 model with a 5G mmWave antenna. If you have a non-mmWave model, ignore the relevant steps.
Caution: The Pixel 7 contains class 1 lasers. Invisible infrared laser emissions are possible during disassembly.
Never start with a fully charged battery, as it poses a risk of thermal runaway.
Power off your phone completely and disconnect all cables before proceeding.
Locate the safety frame holding the Google Pixel 7's screen in place, composed of plastic clips and adhesive.
Use the Anti-Clamp tool or skip ahead three steps for an alternate method.
If the surface is too slippery for the Anti-Clamp, use tape to create a grippier surface.
If suction cups begin to slip out of alignment, loosen slightly and realign arms.
Heat an iOpener or use a hair dryer/heat gun (but be cautious to avoid damage).
Avoid excessive heat that may harm the display or battery.
Do not apply excessive heat as it can damage the device.
Apply a suction handle to the bottom edge of the screen when it's warm.
This may be challenging depending on your phone's age; apply more heat if needed.
Avoid damaging your phone by not inserting the pick more than ~2.5 mm when separating the screen adhesive.
Insert another opening pick along the bottom edge, sliding it towards the lower left corner.
Do not remove the first pick.
Insert a third opening pick under the bottom left corner of the screen.
Check if the adhesive has cooled down, causing it to harden.
When slicing near the front-facing camera, only insert the tip of the opening pick (~2.5 mm) to avoid damaging or smearing the lens.
Leave the opening pick in the top right corner to prevent the adhesive from resealing.
Insert a fifth opening pick and slide it along the right edge of the phone.
Be careful not to remove the display completely at this stage — the screen remains connected via a flex cable.
Continue to slice the remaining adhesive and release the right plastic clips.
Lift the right edge of the screen up towards the left side, similar to opening a book.
Avoid twisting the screen or moving it too far from the frame to prevent straining or damaging the flex cable.
Be careful when releasing the display cable bracket, as it may require some force.
Remove the display cable bracket using a pair of tweezers.
Misaligned connectors can cause permanent damage to pins; ensure proper alignment before pressing.
The Pixel's screen back is extremely fragile and prone to damage from scratches or dents.
Separate the screen from the phone.
Verify that all screws are tightened and there are no loose parts.
During boot-up, do not touch the screen during calibration sequence to prevent improper touch calibration and potential touch issues.
Bend or puncture the battery at your own risk - it may release hazardous chemicals or cause a fire.
If you encounter resistance, heat the foil with an iOpener for two minutes to loosen its adhesive.
Apply tweezers to gently remove the lower graphite foil.
If adhering, heat with an iOpener for 2 minutes before proceeding.
Remove the Torx T3 screwdriver and use it to take out the three 5.1 mm-long screws holding the loudspeaker.
Use a tweezers to carefully lift the loudspeaker out of its recess.
Remove the Torx T3 with nine 5.1 mm-long screws using a Torx T3 screwdriver.
Use tweezers to carefully remove the midframe.
Dispose of the damaged thermal pad — risk of poor heat transfer.
Disconnect the battery cable with a spudger. Pry the connector straight up from its socket.
Remove the Torx T3 screw holding the mmWave antenna bracket in place.
Use a spudger to pry up the mmWave antenna bracket from its mounting point at the bottom right edge.
Remove the mmWave antenna bracket with a pair of tweezers.
Disconnect the mmWave antenna cable using a spudger, prying the connector straight up from its socket.
Remove the mmWave antenna using tweezers.
If the thermal pad is damaged, proceed as follows:
Remove the screw secured at the rear of the cameras using a Torx T3 screwdriver.
Disconnect the wide-angle camera cable using a spudger, prying the connector straight up from its socket.
Use a pair of tweezers to remove the wide-angle camera.
Disconnect the ultra-wide angle camera cable using a spudger.
Remove the ultra wide-angle camera with a pair of tweezers.
