Google Pixel 7 Loudspeaker Replacement

Discharge the battery below 25% before disassembling for safety.

  • Ensure you take precautions if your battery is swollen, as it may pose a risk during the repair.
  • Be aware that the Pixel 7 contains class 1 lasers and may emit invisible infrared laser emissions when disassembled.

This repair will cause your device to lose its IP rating; replacement adhesive is required for completion.

Step 1 | Safety precautions

Step 1 image

Do not start with a fully charged battery — risk of explosion.

  • Charge the battery to below 25%.

Disconnect all cables, then power off your phone completely.

Step 2 | Screen removal information

Thumbnail 3

Locate the safety frame holding the Google Pixel 7 screen in place.

  • Insert opening picks under the safety frame, not directly at the screen.
  • Limited insertion depth: only go up to ~3.5 mm to avoid damaging internals and plastic clips.
  • Avoid blocking your pick on the many surrounding plastic clips, indicating you've inserted too far underneath the screen.

Step 3 | Anti-Clamp instructions

Step 3 image

  • For an alternate method, skip down three steps.

If your screen is cracked, cover it with clear packing tape for suction cup adhesion.

  • Pull the blue handle backwards to unlock the Anti-Clamp's arms.
  • Slide the arms over either edge of your phone: left or right.

Position suction cups near the bottom edge, one on front and one on back.

  • Squeeze suction cups together to apply pressure.
  • If surface is too slippery, use tape for better grip.

Step 4

Lock the arms by pulling the blue handle forward.

  • Turn the handle clockwise for 360 degrees or until the suction cups begin to stretch.
  • Verify that the suction cups remain aligned. If they start to slip, loosen them slightly and realign the arms.

Step 5

Apply heat carefully to avoid damaging display or internal battery.

  • Heat an iOpener and thread it through the arms of the Anti-Clamp.
  • Fold the iOpener so it lies on the bottom edge of the phone.
  • Wait one minute for adhesive release, then look for a gap in the screen frame.
  • Insert an opening pick when the gap is large enough, or rotate the Anti-Clamp clockwise half a turn and wait.
  • Do not over-crank; wait one minute between turns.

Step 6 | Loosen the display adhesive

Step 6 image

Do not apply excessive heat, risk of damaging components.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the screen for at least 3 minutes to loosen adhesive.
  • Or use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate with caution to avoid overheating.
  • The edge should feel slightly too hot to touch.

Step 7 | Insert an opening pick

Step 7 image

Thumbnail 3

Apply a suction handle to the bottom edge of the screen when it's warm.

If your display is severely cracked, cover it with clear packing tape for better adhesion.

  • Lift the screen and safety frame using the suction handle to create a small gap.
  • Be cautious: this may be challenging depending on your phone's age.

If still difficult, apply more heat to the bottom edge and try again.

  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 8 | Prevent damage to your phone

Step 8 image

Thumbnail 2

Insert your pick no more than ~2.5 mm to prevent screen damage.

  • Monitor the screen cable, located just below the left edge (about halfway up).
  • Avoid damaging spring contacts around the phone's perimeter, as they are easily bent.

Step 9 | Slice the bottom edge adhesive

Step 9 image

Position the opening pick at the bottom right corner of the screen and gently slide it along the seam to break the adhesive.

Do not remove the opening pick until you are ready for the next step.

Step 10

  • Insert another opening pick at the bottom edge of the screen.
  • Slide it towards the bottom left corner to cut through the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening picks in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 11 | Release the left clips

Step 11 image

Insert opening pick underneath bottom left screen corner.

  • Slide pick along left edge to cut adhesive & release clips.
  • Leave pick in top left corner to prevent resealing.

Step 12 | Slice the top edge adhesive

Step 12 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Heat the adhesive for 1-2 minutes using your iOpener or heat gun if it becomes difficult to cut.

  • To avoid damaging the front-facing camera, insert only the tip (~2.5 mm) of the opening pick when slicing near it.
  • Insert a fourth opening pick at the top left corner of the screen.
  • Be careful not to smudge the camera lens.

  • Slide the opening pick along the top edge to slice the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in the top right corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 13 | Release the right clips

Step 13 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Insert another opening pick near the right edge.

The screen remains attached via a flex cable.

  • Slide it along the right edge to cut remaining adhesive and release clips.

Step 14 | Open up the phone assembly

Step 14 image

Thumbnail 3

Release the right edge of the screen by lifting it upwards and towards the left side.

Avoid twisting the screen or moving it too far, as this may damage the flex cable.

  • Set the screen down upside down, parallel to the frame.

Step 15 | Release the display cable bracket

Step 15 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2

Prying on the display cable bracket may require significant force.

  • Insert one arm of a pair oftweezers into the upper end opening.
  • Pry inwards and upwards to release the bracket.

Step 16 | Remove the display cable bracket

Step 16 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2

Remove the display cable bracket using tweezers, pulling it from under the midframe towards the cameras.

Step 17 | Disconnect the display cable

Step 17 image

Thumbnail 2

Pressing down on the middle of a connector can cause permanent damage if the pins become bent.

  • Disconnect the display flex cable using a spudger, prying the connector straight up from its socket.
  • To re-attach, align the connector carefully and press down on one side until it clicks into place. Repeat on the other side.

Step 18 | Screen information

Step 18 image

Fragile screen can be damaged easily.

  • Grip the screen by its edges when handling.
  • Place the screen on a soft, lint-free cloth to prevent damage.

Step 19 | Separate the screen

Step 19 image

Separate the screen from the phone.

  • During reassembly:
    • Check that all screws are tightened and there are no loose parts.
    • Reconnect the screen and test your phone to ensure it works.
    • Power down, then continue reassembly.

Apply new adhesive where necessary after cleaning areas with isopropyl alcohol (>90%). Follow guides for custom-cut adhesives or pre-cut adhesive cards.

During boot-up, do not touch the screen during calibration sequence to avoid improper touch calibration and potential issues.

Step 20 | Peel off the lower graphite foil

Step 20 image

Thumbnail 3

Use a tweezers to gently lift the lower graphite foil.

If it doesn't come loose easily, apply heat from an iOpener to loosen the adhesive for two minutes.

Step 21 | Unfasten the loudspeaker screws

Step 21 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2

Remove the three Torx T3 screws using a Torx T3 screwdriver.

  • The screws are 5.1 mm long and secure the loudspeaker.

Step 22 | Remove the loudspeaker
