Discharge battery below 25% before disassembling phone to prevent risk of fire if damaged.
A fully charged battery may cause a fire hazard when damaged, so ensure it is below 25% capacity.
Locate the safety frame holding the screen in place.
Inserting too deeply may block the pick or cause unnecessary stress on plastic clips.
To use the Anti-Clamp, follow these steps:
If your screen is cracked, apply clear packing tape to help suction cup adhere.
Alternatively, use tape to create a grippier surface if phone surface is too slippery.
Grasp the blue handle and pull it forward to lock the arms in place.
Maintain alignment of the suction cups at all times. If they begin to slip out of alignment, loosen them slightly and realign the arms.
Apply heat with an iOpener or alternative tool to prevent damage.
Apply more heat in small increments, rotating the handle clockwise half a turn at a time, waiting one minute between turns.
Apply a heated iOpener to the screen for at least 3 minutes to loosen adhesive underneath.
Apply suction handle to warm screen for safe removal.
Lift screen carefully with suction handle, creating a small gap.
Apply more heat if necessary for easier removal.
Never insert the pick more than 2.5 mm to prevent screen damage.
Position the opening pick at the bottom right corner of the screen and gently slide it across, cutting through the adhesive.
Do not remove the opening pick as this will cause the adhesive to reform.
Do not remove the original pick — it prevents resealing of the adhesive.
If the adhesive becomes difficult to cut, it may have cooled down.
Slide the opening pick along the top edge to slice the adhesive.
Leave the pick in the top right corner to prevent resealing.
Do not attempt to fully remove display yet, as flex cable still connects it to assembly.
Lift the right edge of the screen up towards the left side.
Avoid twisting or moving the screen too far, as this may strain or damage the flex cable.
Position the screen upside down and parallel to the frame before proceeding.
Release the display cable bracket by pushing it inwards with a pair of tweezers.
Remove the display cable bracket using tweezers, pulling from underneath the midframe towards the cameras.
Use a spudger to disconnect the display flex cable by prying the connector straight up from its socket.
Do not press down on the middle or risk bending pins that can cause permanent damage.
Handling the Pixel's rear display requires extra care due to its fragile nature.
Do not touch the screen during the initial boot-up process to avoid improper touch calibration.
Apply new adhesive only after cleaning with isopropyl alcohol (>90%). Follow specific guides for custom-cut adhesives or pre-cut adhesive cards.
Do not puncture or bend the battery during these steps.
Remove the upper graphite foil from the battery and midframe using a pair of tweezers.
If the foil does not peel easily, apply a heated iOpener for two minutes to loosen its adhesive.
Peel the lower graphite foil away from the battery and midframe using a pair of tweezers.
If removal is difficult, apply a heated iOpener to the foil for two minutes to loosen its adhesive.
Use a Torx T3 screwdriver to remove the three screws with a length of 5.1 mm.
Remove the loudspeaker from its recess using a pair of tweezers.
Remove the Torx T3 screws using a Torx T3 screwdriver.
Remove the midframe using a pair of tweezers.
Remove the old thermal pad to prevent damage and ensure proper adhesion of the new one.
Disconnect the battery cable using a spudger.
Use a spudger to pry the front facing camera cable straight up from its socket.
Use tweezers to gently lift the front facing camera from its recess.
Remove the screw (5.1 mm long) that secures the earpiece speaker using a Torx T3 screwdriver.
Position the spudger at the bottom edge of the earpiece speaker.
Apply gentle pressure and pry upwards carefully to avoid damage.
Loosen the earpiece speaker in this manner until it comes loose.
Remove the earpiece speaker using a pair of tweezers.
