Google Pixel 7 Earpiece Speaker Replacement

Discharge battery below 25% before disassembling phone to prevent risk of fire if damaged.

  • Battery may be swollen; take necessary precautions.
  • The Pixel 7 contains class 1 lasers; avoid exposure to invisible infrared laser emissions during disassembly.
  • Reapplying adhesive is crucial for retaining water resistance, but your device will lose its IP rating after the repair.

Step 1 | Safety precautions

A fully charged battery may cause a fire hazard when damaged, so ensure it is below 25% capacity.

  • Power off the phone completely.
  • Remove all external power cables and connectors.

Step 2 | Screen removal information

Thumbnail 3

Locate the safety frame holding the screen in place.

  • Insert opening picks under the safety frame, avoiding separation from the screen.
  • Limit pick insertion to ~3.5 mm to prevent internal damage and clip interference.
  • Inserting too deeply may block the pick or cause unnecessary stress on plastic clips.

Step 3 | Anti-Clamp instructions

Thumbnail 3

To use the Anti-Clamp, follow these steps:

  • Pull the blue handle backwards to unlock the arms.
  • Slide the arms over either the left or right edge of your phone.
  • Position the suction cups near the bottom edge, one on front and one on back.

If your screen is cracked, apply clear packing tape to help suction cup adhere.

Alternatively, use tape to create a grippier surface if phone surface is too slippery.

Step 4

Grasp the blue handle and pull it forward to lock the arms in place.

  • Turn the handle clockwise for 360 degrees or until the suction cups start to stretch.
  • Maintain alignment of the suction cups at all times. If they begin to slip out of alignment, loosen them slightly and realign the arms.

Step 5

Apply heat with an iOpener or alternative tool to prevent damage.

  • Thread the heat source through the Anti-Clamp's arms.
  • Fold the iOpener along the phone's bottom edge.
  • Wait one minute for the adhesive to release and create an opening gap.
  • Insert an opening pick under the screen frame when a large enough gap is created.

Apply more heat in small increments, rotating the handle clockwise half a turn at a time, waiting one minute between turns.

Step 6 | Loosen the display adhesive

Step 6 image

Apply a heated iOpener to the screen for at least 3 minutes to loosen adhesive underneath.

  • The iOpener can be heated using other tools, such as a hair dryer or heat gun, but be careful not to overheat the device.
  • The edge of the device should feel slightly too hot to the touch for effective loosening.

Step 7 | Insert an opening pick

Step 7 image

Apply suction handle to warm screen for safe removal.

  • Apply clear packing tape over cracked display if needed.
  • Use strong tape or superglue as alternative to suction cup.

Lift screen carefully with suction handle, creating a small gap.

  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.
  • Apply more heat if necessary for easier removal.

Step 8 | Prevent damage to your phone

    Step 8 image

    Thumbnail 2

Never insert the pick more than 2.5 mm to prevent screen damage.

    • Identify the area near the left edge, about halfway up, where the screen cable is located.
    • Be extremely cautious in this region to avoid damaging the cable.
    • Avoid touching spring contacts around the phone's perimeter with the pick to prevent bending or damage.

Step 9 | Slice the bottom edge adhesive

    Step 9 image
    Thumbnail 1
    Thumbnail 2

Position the opening pick at the bottom right corner of the screen and gently slide it across, cutting through the adhesive.

Do not remove the opening pick as this will cause the adhesive to reform.

    Step 10

    Step 10 image

    Thumbnail 2
    Thumbnail 3

If the adhesive becomes difficult to cut, it may have cooled down.

    • Reheat with iOpener or heat gun for 1-2 minutes.
Note: Be cautious near the front facing camera.
    • When slicing, only insert the tip of the opening pick (~2.5 mm) to avoid damage.
    • Insert a fourth opening pick at the top left corner of the screen.

Slide the opening pick along the top edge to slice the adhesive.

Leave the pick in the top right corner to prevent resealing.

Step 13 | Release the right clips

    Step 13 image
