How to Replace the Screen Adhesive for Your Google Pixel 7 Pro

  • Your device will lose its IP (Ingress Protection) rating, but water resistance depends on proper adhesive reapplication.
  • Although written for the Pixel 6 Pro, the procedure is identical for the Pixel 7 Pro.

Step 1 | Clean the frame

Residual adhesive or debris can prevent proper screen sealing.

  • Scrape off excess adhesive using the flat end of your spudger.
  • Peel and remove remaining adhesive with tweezers or fingers.
  • Avoid puncturing the battery to prevent potential fire or chemical leak risks.

  • Clean the frame perimeter with highly-concentrated isopropyl alcohol (>90%) and a lint-free cloth.

Inspect and clean the screen as done with the .

Step 3 | Orient the adhesive

Align the new adhesive with the phone's frame by laying it on top.

  • Refer to the front-facing camera for left-right orientation.
  • Locate the upper loudspeaker and corner notches for added guidance.

Step 4 | Remove the adhesive backing

Remove the clear protective backing by pulling on the adhesive tab at the top.

Be extremely cautious — misaligned adhesive can lead to an improper seal.

  • Lay the adhesive onto the frame from the bottom edge up.
  • Make small corrections as you go, using the bottom left notch, top right notch, and upper loudspeaker cutout for alignment assistance.

Firmly press adhesive along frame's perimeter using a spudger or fingers.

Grasp the pull tab located at the lower right corner of the frame.

  • Pry off the main liner.
  • A secondary, smaller liner will be exposed; refrain from removing it for now.

Step 8 | Check for liners

Inspect the front-facing camera hole and sensor cutout on the replacement screen.

Remove all remaining protective liners from these areas.

Step 9 | Continue reassembly

Continue with your phone's guide for reassembly instructions.

  • Reinstall the display cable bracket.
  • Complete reassembly once the screen is installed and sealed in place.

Grab the pull tab on the upper left of the frame.

  • Remove the liner covering the perimeter adhesive, ensuring it does not stick to the adhesive.

Step 11 | Install the screen

  • Screen must be flipped over.
  • Lay the screen face down on the frame.
  • Press the edges of the screen firmly to secure it in place.

Step 12 | Strengthen the adhesive bond

Account for the camera bar when compressing the Pixel screen.

  • Use screen vise clamps and secure to the device perimeter if available.
  • Apply tape to protect rear glass finish.
  • Place thick objects (coins, etc.) along rear glass edges, at least as thick as the camera bar.
  • Stack heavy objects on phone for 30 minutes or overnight.
