Discharge battery below 25% for safety, or risk fire if damaged during repair.
This repair will replace the 5G mmWave antenna in your Google Pixel 7 Pro. Note that retaining water resistance after the repair depends on reapplying adhesive correctly, which will cause loss of IP rating.
A fully charged battery can be hazardous if damaged.
Allow the battery to discharge below 25% capacity.
Identify the screen seam, where the screen meets the rest of the phone.
Do not pry at this seam — risk of damage to the safety frame.
Locate the bezel seam, where the plastic bezel meets the frame, and held by plastic clips.
Pry at the bezel seam to release the screen.
Be cautious of multiple plastic clips around the screen — excessive pick depth may block it or cause internal damage.
For using the Anti-Clamp, proceed with the next three steps. For an alternate method, skip ahead.
Do not proceed without first unlocking the Anti-Clamp's arms by pulling the blue handle backwards.
If necessary, use tape to create a grippier surface for the Anti-Clamp to hold onto, especially if your phone's surface is too slippery.
Hold the blue handle forward and lock the arms in place.
Extreme heat can damage the display or internal battery.
Wait one minute for adhesive release before proceeding.
Crank no more than half a turn at a time, waiting one minute between turns.
Apply a heated iOpener to the screen for at least 3 minutes to loosen adhesive.
Apply a suction handle to the bottom edge of the screen when it's warm to the touch.
Lifting the screen may be difficult, especially on older phones. Be cautious and apply more heat as needed.
Lift the screen with the safety frame using the suction handle to create a small gap.
Avoid damaging your phone by inserting the pick no more than ~2.5 mm when separating the screen adhesive.
Slide the opening pick to the bottom right corner of the screen.
Do not remove it yet, as this may cause the adhesive to reseal.
Leave the opening pick in place and proceed with disassembly.
Insert a second opening pick at the bottom edge and slide it to the bottom left corner.
Be cautious when navigating around the bottom left corner's plastic clip, as it may block your pick. Use only the tip of the opening pick (~1 mm) to carefully work your way around it.
Leave the opening pick in place to prevent resealing.
Reheat the iOpener or heat gun for 1-2 minutes if the adhesive becomes hard to cut.
Slide the opening pick along the top edge carefully to slice the adhesive and prevent resealing, leaving it in place in the top right corner.
Insert a fifth opening pick at the right edge.
Do not separate display from phone yet, as flex cable remains connected.
Lift the right edge of the screen upwards and inwards, similar to opening a book.
Avoid twisting the screen or moving it excessively, as this may strain or damage the flex cable.
Use caution when releasing the display cable bracket as excessive force may damage components.
Remove the display cable bracket using a pair of tweezers.
Disconnect the display flex cable using a spudger, prying the connector straight up from its socket.
Never press down in the middle to avoid bending the pins, which can cause permanent damage if misaligned.
The Pixel's screen is extremely fragile and can be damaged easily with minor scratches or dents.
Separate the screen from the phone assembly.
Do not touch the screen during boot-up calibration — improper calibration may cause touch issues.
Do not puncture or bend the battery as this may leak hazardous chemicals or cause a fire.
Remove the Torx T3 screwdriver and unscrew the two 5.1 mm long screws securing the charging port bracket.
Remove the charging port bracket using a pair of tweezers.
Remove the six Torx T3 screws using a Torx T3 screwdriver.
Use tweezers to carefully lift out the midframe.
Remove and discard the old thermal pad to avoid damage or electrical issues.
Disconnect the battery connector using a spudger. Pry it straight up from its socket.
Remove the mmWave antenna bracket by loosening its Torx T3 screw, which is approximately 5.1 mm long.
Remove the mmWave antenna bracket with a pair of tweezers.
Use a spudger to pry the mmWave antenna cable connector straight up out of its socket.
Reprise the earlier process.
Use tweezers to carefully lift the mmWave antenna including its cable out of its recess.
If damaged, carefully remove the pad and clean the area with high-concentration (greater than 90%) isopropyl alcohol using a microfiber or lint-free cloth.
Remove the mmWave antenna.
