A fully charged battery can be hazardous if damaged.

Allow the battery to discharge below 25% capacity.

  • Power off the device completely.
  • Disconnect all external power sources and cables.

Step 2 | Screen removal information

Thumbnail 3

Identify the screen seam, where the screen meets the rest of the phone.

Do not pry at this seam — risk of damage to the safety frame.

Locate the bezel seam, where the plastic bezel meets the frame, and held by plastic clips.

Pry at the bezel seam to release the screen.

  • Insert opening picks carefully in the correct position to avoid separating the screen from its safety frame.
  • Limited pick insertion depth: only insert up to ~3.5 mm during removal to prevent damage and interference with plastic clips.

Be cautious of multiple plastic clips around the screen — excessive pick depth may block it or cause internal damage.

Step 3 | Anti-Clamp instructions

Thumbnail 3

For using the Anti-Clamp, proceed with the next three steps. For an alternate method, skip ahead.

  • Check our guide for detailed Anti-Clamp usage instructions.
  • If your screen is cracked, apply a layer of clear packing tape to help the suction cups adhere.

Do not proceed without first unlocking the Anti-Clamp's arms by pulling the blue handle backwards.

  • Slide the Anti-Clamp's arms over either side of your phone, left or right edge.
  • Position suction cups near the bottom edge - one on the front and one on the back of the phone.

If necessary, use tape to create a grippier surface for the Anti-Clamp to hold onto, especially if your phone's surface is too slippery.

Step 4

Step 4 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Hold the blue handle forward and lock the arms in place.

  • Turn the blue handle clockwise for 360 degrees to stretch the suction cups.
  • Ensure the suction cups remain aligned during this process. If they start to misalign, loosen them slightly and realign the arms.

Step 5

Extreme heat can damage the display or internal battery.

  • Apply heat to the Anti-Clamp with an iOpener, hair dryer, or heat gun.
  • Fold the iOpener and position it along the bottom edge of the phone.

Wait one minute for adhesive release before proceeding.

  • Insert an opening pick under the screen frame when a large gap is formed.
  • If insufficient gap, apply more heat and rotate Anti-Clamp handle clockwise half a turn.

Crank no more than half a turn at a time, waiting one minute between turns.

Step 6 | Loosen the display adhesive

Step 6 image

Apply a heated iOpener to the screen for at least 3 minutes to loosen adhesive.

  • Use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but avoid overheating the device.
  • The edge should feel slightly too hot to touch before stopping.

Step 7 | Insert an opening pick

Step 7 image

Thumbnail 3

Apply a suction handle to the bottom edge of the screen when it's warm to the touch.

  • If the display is badly cracked, cover it with clear packing tape for better adhesion.
  • Alternatively, use very strong tape or superglue the suction cup to the broken screen if necessary.

Lifting the screen may be difficult, especially on older phones. Be cautious and apply more heat as needed.

Lift the screen with the safety frame using the suction handle to create a small gap.

  • Insert an opening pick into the gap once it's secure.

Step 8 | Prevent damage to your phone

Step 8 image

Thumbnail 2

Avoid damaging your phone by inserting the pick no more than ~2.5 mm when separating the screen adhesive.

  • Identify the screen cable, located just below the left edge of the phone, about halfway up.
  • Exercise extreme care here to avoid damaging the cable.
  • Also be cautious around the spring contacts near the phone's perimeter to prevent bending or damage to these delicate components.

Step 9 | Slice the bottom edge adhesive

Step 9 image

Thumbnail 2

Slide the opening pick to the bottom right corner of the screen.

Do not remove it yet, as this may cause the adhesive to reseal.

Leave the opening pick in place and proceed with disassembly.

Step 10

Step 10 image

Thumbnail 2

Insert a second opening pick at the bottom edge and slide it to the bottom left corner.

  • Slice the adhesive with the new opening pick, working carefully to avoid damaging the screen.
  • Leave both picks in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Be cautious when navigating around the bottom left corner's plastic clip, as it may block your pick. Use only the tip of the opening pick (~1 mm) to carefully work your way around it.

Step 11 | Release the left clips

Step 11 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Reheat the iOpener or heat gun for 1-2 minutes if the adhesive becomes hard to cut.

  • When slicing near the front facing camera, only insert the tip (~2.5 mm) of the opening pick to avoid damage or smearing.
  • Insert a fourth opening pick at the top left corner of the screen.
  • Slide the opening pick along the top edge carefully to slice the adhesive and prevent resealing, leaving it in place in the top right corner.

Step 13 | Release the right clips

Step 13 image
