How to Replace the Adhesive for Your Google Pixel 6a

  • Apply new adhesive to your Google Pixel 6a as a follow-up to a previous repair.
  • This procedure assumes that the screen has already been removed. If it hasn't, remove it first by following this guide.

Step 1 | Clean the frame

Remove all residual adhesive and debris from the frame.

  • Use the flat end of your spudger to scrape off as much adhesive as possible.
  • Peel away remaining adhesive with tweezers or your fingers.

Clean the frame perimeter with highly-concentrated isopropyl alcohol (over 90%) and a lint-free cloth to ensure proper sealing.

Clean the screen with a soft cloth and the cleaning solution used for the frame.

Step 3 | Orient the adhesive

Position the adhesive on the frame with the clear liner facing down.

  • Use the upper loudspeaker cutout as a reference point.
  • Check alignment with the conductive tape.

Step 4 | Remove the adhesive liner

Remove the clear liner from the adhesive.

Misaligned adhesive can cause improper sealing.

  • Lay the adhesive on the frame, starting at the bottom or top edge.
  • Maintain alignment and make small adjustments as you apply the adhesive.

Press along the adhesive's perimeter with a spudger or your fingers, securing it to the .

Step 7 | Remove the liners

Grasp the pull tab located at the top-right corner of the frame.

Pull the main liner away from the frame by hand.

Step 8 | Check for small liners

  • Inspect the front-facing camera hole on the new screen for residual liner and carefully remove it.
  • Examine the sensor cutout on the replacement screen for any remaining protective liner, then gently strip it away.

Step 9 | Continue reassembly

Continue with reassembly by following the steps outlined in your phone's user guide.

  • Reinstall the display cable bracket.
  • Once the screen is installed, proceed to seal the phone.

Step 10 | Remove the final liner

Grasp the pull tab located at the bottom edge of the frame, then remove the remaining liner.

Step 11 | Install the screen

Flip the screen over.

Lay it onto the frame.

  • Press along the perimeter of the screen to secure it.
