Do not start this repair with a fully charged battery, as it may catch fire if damaged.

  • Allow the battery to drain below 25% before proceeding.
  • PWR button: Press and hold until phone is fully powered off.
  • Unplug all cables from your phone, including any charging cables.

Step 2 | Screen removal information

Step 2 image

Thumbnail 3

Do not damage the screen or the surrounding components.

  • Locate the screen seam, which separates the screen from the phone body.
  • Pry carefully at the bezel seam, where the plastic bezel meets the frame and is held by clips.

Step 3 | Anti-Clamp instructions

Step 3 image

Thumbnail 3

For cracked screens, cover with clear packing tape.

  • Use the blue handle to unlock the Anti-Clamp's arms by pulling it backwards.
  • Slide the arms over the right phone edge.
(Alternative method: skip ahead three steps)

If surface is too slippery, use tape for better grip.

  • Position suction cups near the middle of the right edge (one front, one back).
  • Squeeze the cups together to apply suction.

Step 4

Step 4 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Push the blue handle forward to lock the arms in place.

  • Turn the blue handle clockwise until it reaches 360 degrees or the cups start to stretch.
  • Maintain proper alignment of the suction cups. If they begin to slip, loosen the suction slightly and re-align the arms.

Step 5

Step 5 image

Thumbnail 2

Apply extreme heat with care to avoid damaging the display and/or internal battery.

  • Thread a heated iOpener through the Anti-Clamp's arms for even heating.
  • Wait one minute for adhesive release and an opening gap. If insufficient, apply more heat and rotate the handle clockwise half a turn.
  • Do not crank more than half a turn at a time, and wait one minute between turns.

Step 6 | Heat the right edge

Step 6 image

Apply a heated iOpener to the right edge of the screen for 2 minutes.

  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but be cautious not to overheat the phone and risk damaging the display or internal battery.

Step 7 | Insert an opening pick

Step 7 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Apply a suction cup near the right edge's center.

  • Pull up firmly with steady force to create a gap between bezel and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

This may be difficult depending on your phone's age. Apply more heat if needed, and try again.

If your display is cracked, covering it with clear packing tape can aid suction cup adhesion or use strong tape instead.

As a last resort, superglue the suction cup to the broken screen.

Step 8 | Reposition the opening pick

Step 8 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Apply suction and pivot the pick upwards at a steep angle.

  • Pry carefully while pushing the pick into the bezel seam.
  • Insert the pick only up to 3.5 mm to avoid damaging internals.

Step 9 | Release the right clips

Step 9 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Insert the opening pick into the top-right corner, rotating it to release the clips.

Do not remove the pick; leave it in place to prevent re-locking of the clips.

Ensure the pick is inserted only up to 4 mm to avoid damaging internal components.

Step 11 | Release the top clips

Step 11 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Insert the opening pick into the top-left corner.

Do not remove it until the repair is complete, as this can cause the clips to re-lock.

Leave the opening pick in place while working on the phone's interior.

Step 13 | Release the left clips

Step 13 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Insert a new opening pick into the gap you just created.

  • Slide the pick along the left edge to release the clips.
  • Only insert the pick up to 3 mm to avoid damaging the internals.
  • Repeat the procedure for the remaining edge, rotating and sliding the pick as necessary.
  • If there's still resistance around the edges of the screen, use an opening pick to release any remaining clips.

Step 14 | Reposition the screen

Step 14 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Do not attempt to remove the screen completely yet.

  • Lift the right edge of the screen and gently swing it towards the left side, similar to opening a book.
  • Rest the screen upside down and parallel to the frame, then proceed with caution.
  • Avoid twisting or moving the screen too far away from the frame to prevent damaging the flex cable.

Step 15 | Remove the display cable bracket

Step 15 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Failure to properly secure the display cable bracket can result in sparks and logic board damage.

  • Use tweezers to bend the bottom side of the display cable bracket upwards, releasing a metal clip.
  • Remove the display cable bracket.

During reassembly, insert the top side of the bracket first before pressing down the other side.

Step 16 | Disconnect the display cable

Step 16 image

Risk of damaging tiny components around the press connector.

  • Insert a precision opening pick under the bottom right edge of the display cable press connector, above the screw hole.
  • Pry up and disconnect the display cable press connector.
    • To re-attach: align carefully and press down on one side until it clicks. Repeat on the other side.
    • Do not press middle; misaligned pins can bend, causing permanent damage.

Step 17 | Screen information

Step 17 image

Fragile screen: avoid scratches and dents.

  • Grip the screen by its edges when handling.
  • Place the screen on a soft, lint-free cloth to prevent damage.

Step 18 | Reassembly information

Step 18 image

Thumbnail 2
  • Remove the screen.
    • During reassembly: Check the front-facing camera hole and sensor cutout on your replacement screen, removing any remaining liners.
    • Check if the proximity sensor's rubber gasket is missing, as it might be stuck to the back of your old screen. Replace it if necessary.

Test your phone temporarily by connecting the screen, powering on, and verifying functionality before sealing. Power off when finished.

  • Don't forget to reinstall the display cable bracket.
  • Follow the guide for replacing screen adhesive.
