Do not pry at the screen seam, as it can damage the phone.

  • Pry at the bezel seam to release the plastic clips.
  • The bezel is held in place by plastic clips, allowing you to access the screen's edge.

Step 3 | Anti-Clamp instructions

Step 3 image

Thumbnail 3

Use caution when handling a cracked screen.

  • Apply clear packing tape over any cracks for better suction cup adhesion.
  • Pull the blue handle backwards to unlock the Anti-Clamp's arms.
  • Slide the arms over the right edge of your phone.

Alternatively, refer to this guide for complete Anti-Clamp instructions.

  • Position a suction cup on each side of the middle of the right edge of your phone.
  • Squeeze the cups together to apply suction.
  • Use tape to create a grippier surface if necessary for a slippery phone.

Step 4

Grasp the blue handle and pull it forward to secure the arms.

  • Rotate the blue handle clockwise by exactly 360 degrees or until you notice the suction cups stretching.
  • Verify that the suction cups remain correctly aligned. If they begin to shift, loosen them slightly and adjust the arms as needed.

Step 5

Step 5 image

Thumbnail 2

Heat an iOpener and place it through the arms of the Anti-Clamp, positioning it on the right edge of the phone.

  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer or heat gun, but exercise caution to avoid damaging the display or internal battery.
  • Wait one minute for the adhesive to release and create an opening gap.

  • Insert an opening pick under the screen frame when the Anti-Clamp generates a sufficient gap.

If the Anti-Clamp fails to create a large enough gap, reapply heat and rotate the handle clockwise half a turn. Avoid excessive turns.

Allow one minute between each rotation and let the Anti-Clamp and time do the work for you.

Step 6 | Heat the right edge

Step 6 image

Avoid overheating the phone's display and internal battery.

  • Use an iOpener, hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate to apply heat for two minutes.
  • Apply the heat to the right edge of the screen.

Step 7 | Insert an opening pick

Step 7 image

Thumbnail 3

Apply a suction cup near the center of the right edge.

  • Pull up on the suction cup with strong, steady force to create a gap between the bezel and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Be prepared for difficulty if your phone is older or the display is badly cracked.

  • To aid adhesion, cover the screen with clear packing tape, or use very strong tape instead of the suction cup.
  • As a last resort, superglue the suction cup to the broken screen.

Step 8 | Reposition the opening pick

Step 8 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Continue to apply suction.

  • Pivot the pick upwards at a steep angle.
  • Carefully push the pick inwards while prying to reposition it into the bezel seam.
  • Insert the pick no deeper than 3.5 mm to prevent damaging internal components.

Step 9 | Release the right clips

Step 9 image

Slide the pick along the right edge to release the plastic clips.

  • Secure the bezel by releasing the plastic clips.
  • Position the pick at the top-right edge before proceeding.

Step 10 | Release the top right clips

Step 10 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3
  • Insert the opening pick into the top-right corner, rotating it to release the clips.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent re-locking of the clips.
  • Only insert the pick up to 4 mm to avoid damaging internal components.

Step 11 | Release the top clips

Step 11 image

Insert a new opening pick into the gap.

  • Slide the pick along the top edge to release the clips.
  • (Note: When near the front camera, insert up to 3 mm only)

Step 12 | Release the top left clips

Step 12 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Insert an opening pick into the top-left corner and rotate it to release the clips.

  • Remove the opening pick to allow the clips to re-lock.
  • Alternatively, leave the opening pick in place to prevent relocking.

Step 13 | Release the left clips

Step 13 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3
  • Insert a new opening pick into the gap.
  • Slide the pick along the left edge to release the clips.
  • Only insert the pick up to 3 mm to avoid damaging internals.

  • Repeat the procedure for the remaining edge, rotating and sliding as needed.
  • The screen should now be separated from the frame. If still stuck, use a pick to release any remaining clips.

Step 14 | Reposition the screen

Step 14 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Do not attempt to remove the screen completely yet.

  • Lift the right edge of the screen, moving it towards the left side of the device as if opening a book.
  • Rest the screen upside down and parallel to the frame before proceeding.

Avoid twisting or removing the screen too far from the frame to prevent damage to the flex cable.

Step 15 | Remove the display cable bracket

Step 15 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Locate the display cable bracket, held by a metal clip.

  • Bend the bottom of the bracket upwards using tweezers, releasing the clip.
  • Remove the display cable bracket.

During reassembly, attach the top side first to avoid sparking and logic board damage.

Step 16 | Disconnect the display cable

Step 16 image

Thumbnail 3

Careful handling is essential to avoid damaging small components around the press connector.

  • Insert an opening pick under the display cable press connector's bottom right edge, just above the nearby screw hole.
  • Pry up and disconnect the display cable press connector.

When re-attaching, align carefully and press down on one side until it clicks into place; repeat on the other side. Never press in the middle, as misalignment can cause permanent damage to the pins.

Step 17 | Screen information

Step 17 image

Handle the Pixel's screen with care as the rear surface is fragile.

  • Grip the screen by its edges to prevent accidental damage.
  • Place the screen on a soft, lint-free cloth or a similar protective surface.

Avoid letting objects touch the bottom of the screen to prevent scratching or denting.

Step 18 | Reassembly information

Step 18 image
Thumbnail 1
Thumbnail 2
  • Remove the screen.
  • During reassembly:
    • Check the front-facing camera hole and sensor cutout on your replacement screen for any remaining liners.

    • Verify the proximity sensor's rubber gasket is present and replace it if necessary, as it may be stuck to the old screen.

  • Temporarily connect your screen, power on your phone, and test it before sealing.

  • Power off your phone before continuing with reassembly.
  • Reinstall the display cable bracket.
  • Follow this guide for replacing screen adhesive.
  • If installing a new screen, follow these steps to calibrate the fingerprint sensor as per the calibration guide.
