Discharge battery below 25% before disassembly to reduce risk of fire from accidental damage.
Never attempt a repair with a fully charged battery — risk of fire.
Do not pry on the screen seam, as it may cause damage.
Plastic clips hold the bezel in place, located along this seam.
Optional: Use Anti-Clamp by following these steps.
If surface is too slippery, use tape to create a grippier surface.
Grasp the blue handle firmly and pull it forward to secure the arms.
Apply iOpener, hair dryer, or heat gun to the right edge of the phone.
Proceed with care as extreme heat can damage display and/or internal battery.
Wait one minute for adhesive release and opening gap creation.
Excessive heat can cause permanent damage to your phone's display and battery.
Apply a suction cup near the center of the right edge.
As a last resort, superglue the suction cup to the broken screen.
Insert pick up to 3.5mm only.
Slide the pick along the right edge to release the plastic clips.
Position the pick at the top-right edge for the next step.
Insert the opening pick into the top-right corner, rotating it to release the clips.
Insert a new opening pick into the gap.
Insert the opening pick into the top-left corner and rotate it to release the clips.
Insert a new opening pick into the gap created earlier.
If resistance remains around the edges, use an opening pick to release remaining clips.
Do not attempt to fully remove the screen yet as it is still attached via a flex cable.
Avoid twisting or moving the screen too far from the frame to prevent damage to the flex cable.
Failure to properly secure the display cable bracket during reassembly may cause sparks and logic board damage.
During reassembly, insert the top side of the bracket first and then press down the other side to secure it properly.
Careful handling is required to avoid damaging nearby components.
When re-attaching, align carefully and press down on one side until it clicks into place, then repeat on the other. Avoid pressing in the middle to prevent pin bending and damage.
The Pixel's rear screen is extremely delicate and easily damaged.
Remove any remaining liners from the front-facing camera hole and sensor cutout on the replacement screen.
Do not remove the entire silver tape; you only need to peel back the section bridging the midframe and top speaker.
Peel back the protective tape covering the screws adjacent to the USB-C port using a pair of tweezers.
Acquire a T3 Torx screwdriver.
Insert a spudger between the top of the midframe and the , near the front camera.
Insert plastic spudger between bottom left midframe & frame.
Apply gentle prying force upwards to release midframe's clips.
Remove the midframe.
You may feel resistance due to thermal paste bonding; this is normal.
Scrape off excess thermal paste with a spudger's flat end.
Thermal paste residue can affect cooling performance.
Disconnect the battery's press connector by prying it loose with a spudger.
Check if your device has a 5G mmWave antenna; skip ahead if not.
Disconnect the 5G mmWave antenna's press connector using a spudger.
Remove the 5G mmWave antenna using tweezers or your fingers.
Ensure your device has a battery spacer before proceeding.
Hold the battery spacer and gently pull it away from the device.
Remove the battery spacer.
Use tweezers or your fingers to carefully pry the plastic pull tabs away from the battery.
Apply heat to the device's back using an iOpener, a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate for 2 minutes.
Be cautious not to overheat the phone, as the battery is prone to thermal damage.
Separate the battery from its mounting using a sawing motion on the tabs.
Work slowly to avoid losing your grip and accidentally pulling the tab upwards.
Separate remaining adhesive by tilting battery out of device.
Remove battery from device.
Do not reinstall a damaged or deformed battery — potential safety hazard.
During reassembly: reconnect battery temporarily to align it correctly; disconnect after seating and fold pull tabs back into place.
