How to Replace the Adhesive for Your Google Pixel 6

Step 1 | Clean the frame

Any residual adhesive or debris will prevent screen sealing.

  • Scrape off excess adhesive using the flat end of your spudger.
  • Avoid damaging spring connectors near the frame perimeter.
  • Use tweezers or fingers to remove remaining adhesive.
  • Clean the frame with isopropyl alcohol (over 90%) and a lint-free cloth.

Clean the reused screen with the same method used for the .

Step 3 | Orient the adhesive

Place the new adhesive over the frame to determine its correct position.

  • Align the adhesive using reference points like the upper loudspeaker cutout, lower left hole, and upper right hole.

Step 4 | Remove the adhesive backing

Remove the protective backing by pulling the tab at the top of the adhesive.

Exposing the adhesive may cause it to bond with surrounding surfaces — ensure proper handling and placement.

Step 5 | Apply the adhesive

Careful handling is crucial during this step as misaligned adhesive can lead to an improper seal.

  • Apply the adhesive to the frame, beginning with the bottom or top edge, making small corrections as needed.
  • Use the holes in the bottom left and top right corners for alignment assistance.

Careful not to damage the spring connectors near the perimeter.

  • Firmly press along the adhesive's perimeter with a spudger or your fingers.
  • Ensure the adhesive adheres properly to the frame.

Step 7 | Remove the liners

Grasp the pull tab located at the top left of the frame.

  • Pull downwards to remove the Main Liner.

Step 8 | Check for liners

Verify that the front-facing camera hole and sensor cutout on the replacement screen match your original screen.

  • Remove any remaining protective liners from the camera hole and sensor cutout.

Step 9 | Continue reassembly

Reconnect the screen connector bracket during reassembly.

  • Continue following the steps in your phone's user guide.
  • Seal the device once your screen is securely in place.

Step 10 | Remove the final liner

Puncturing the battery with tweezers can result in chemical leaks or fires.

  • Grasp the pull tab on the lower right frame and remove the liner covering the adhesive.
  • Ensure the adhesive remains attached to the frame, not the liner.

Step 11 | Install the screen

Flip the screen over.

  • Lay the screen onto the frame.
  • Press along the perimeter of the screen to secure it.

Camera bar interference must be addressed to compress Pixel screen.

  • Use screen vise clamps to work around camera bar, securing to device perimeter.
  • Apply tape to rear glass for finish protection and place coins or thick objects along edges (camera bar thickness).
  • Stack multiple heavy objects on phone (e.g. books), leaving in place for at least thirty minutes or overnight.
