For alternate method, skip three steps if not using Anti-Clamp.

A cracked screen? Cover it with clear packing tape for better suction cup adhesion.

  • Pull the blue handle backwards to unlock the Anti-Clamp's arms.
  • Slide the arms over either phone edge: left or right.
  • Position the suction cups near the bottom edge, one on front and one on back.
  • Squeeze the cups together for suction application.

Slippery surface? Apply tape to create a better grip for the Anti-Clamp.

Step 3

Excessive heat can damage display or internal battery.

  • Apply heat to the Anti-Clamp using an iOpener, hair dryer, or heat gun.
  • Fold the iOpener and position it on the phone's bottom edge.
  • Wait one minute for adhesive release and a gap to form.
  • Insert opening pick under screen frame when sufficient gap is created.
    • If inadequate gap, reapply heat and rotate Anti-Clamp clockwise half turn.
    • Wait one minute between turns; do not exceed half a turn at a time.

Step 5 | Loosen the display adhesive

Step 5 image

Apply a iOpener to the screen and let it sit for at least 3 minutes.

Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but avoid overheating the device.

Step 6 | Insert an opening pick

When removing the Google Pixel 6 screen, note that small plastic clips also hold it in place alongside adhesive.

If your opening pick becomes blocked during removal, it indicates you've inserted the tip too far underneath the screen.

Step 9

Step 9 image

Thumbnail 2
Thumbnail 3

Do not apply too much pressure on the back panel or use metal tools.

  • Reheat the adhesive with an iOpener or heat gun for 1-2 minutes if it's hard to cut.
  • Near the front facing camera, insert only the tip (2-3 mm) of the opening pick to avoid damage.

Insert a fourth opening pick at the top left corner of the screen.

  • Slide the opening pick along the top edge to slice the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in the top right corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 10

Step 10 image

Do not disconnect the screen from the phone assembly.

  • Insert a fifth opening pick and slide it along the right edge of the phone.
  • The pick should slice the remaining adhesive, but do not attempt to remove the display yet.

Step 11 | Open up the phone assembly

Step 11 image

The Pixel's screen is highly susceptible to damage from scratches or dents.

  • Grip the screen by its edges when handling to prevent accidental damage.
  • Ensure the screen does not make contact with any surface, ideally placing it on a soft, lint-free cloth during work.

When removing the original screen, be cautious of fragile components.

  • Remove the screen.
  • If your replacement screen does not include the front camera plastic bracket:
    • Use a spudger to carefully pry the bracket from the old screen.
    • Secure the bracket to the new screen using double-sided tape.

Step 15 | Reassembly tips

Step 15 image

During reassembly:

  • If replacing the screen, inspect and remove any protective liners from the front-facing camera hole.
  • Reinstall the display cable bracket.

Test your phone before sealing it up: temporarily connect the screen, power on, and verify functionality. Then, power off and disconnect the screen.

  • Follow custom-cut adhesive instructions if applicable.
  • Follow pre-cut adhesive card instructions if using.

Calibrate the fingerprint sensor: follow the dedicated guide if installing a new screen.

Step 16 | Loosen the graphite film adhesive

Step 16 image

Do not apply heat directly onto the battery as it may cause thermal damage or an event.

  • Apply a heated iOpener or a heat gun to the rear glass for at least two minutes, targeting the graphite films on top of the battery.

Step 17 | Remove the graphite films

Step 17 image
