How to Replace the Adhesive for Your Google Pixel 6 Pro

Step 1 | Clean the frame

Remove all residual adhesive to ensure proper screen sealing.

  • Scrape off excess adhesive using the flat end of your spudger.
  • Use tweezers or your fingers to peel away remaining adhesive.
  • Be cautious not to puncture the battery, which can leak hazardous chemicals or cause a fire.

  • Clean the frame's perimeter with isopropyl alcohol (>90%) and a lint-free cloth.

Step 3 | Orient the adhesive

Align the adhesive over the phone's frame by using visual cues like the front-facing camera, upper loudspeaker, and corner notches.

Step 4 | Remove the adhesive backing

Release the clear protective backing by pulling the pull tab.

Misaligned adhesive can cause an improper seal.

  • Lay the adhesive onto the frame, starting at the bottom edge.
  • Make small corrections as you go to ensure proper alignment.
  • Use the bottom left notch, top right notch, and upper loudspeaker cutout for reference points.

Press the adhesive firmly into place along the frame's edge using a spudger or your fingertips.

Step 7 | Remove the liners

Grab the at the lower right of the frame.

Do not remove the just yet — there is a second, smaller liner underneath.

Step 8 | Check for liners

Examine the front-facing camera hole and sensor cutout on the new screen for any residual adhesive or liners.

  • Remove any remaining protective liners from the sensor area.

Step 9 | Continue reassembly

Continue reassembly using your phone's guide.

  • Reinstall the display cable bracket.
  • Complete the guide once your screen is installed and the phone is ready for sealing.

Grab the pull tab at the upper left of the frame.

  • Remove the liner from the perimeter adhesive.
  • Ensure the adhesive does not peel up with the liner.

Step 11 | Install the screen

Flip the screen over and place it face-down on the frame.

  • Press along the edge of the screen to ensure a secure fit.

Step 12 | Strengthen the adhesive bond

For even compression and a stronger screen-to-frame bond, consider the camera bar's impact.

  • Use screen vise clamps, securing them around the device's perimeter to bypass the camera bar.
  • Apply protective tape along the rear glass's perimeter to safeguard its finish.
  • Place coins or objects similar in thickness to the camera bar along the rear glass edges.
  • Stack heavy objects, like books, on your phone; leave them in place for at least thirty minutes, ideally overnight.
