This repair guide was written by iFixit staff without endorsement from Google. Learn more about our guides here. Follow these steps to apply new screen adhesive correctly after a repair on your Google Pixel 5, assuming the screen has already been removed and set aside.
Remove excess adhesive using tweezers.
Avoid using metal tools, as they may damage the frame.
Do not use metal tools when scraping away screen adhesive — risk of damaging the screen.
Avoid using isopropyl alcohol near the front camera bracket, as it may loosen its adhesive.
Locate the circular hole on the top right corner and the oblong hole on the bottom left corner of the frame.
Remove and discard the clear plastic liner.
Adhesive misalignment can result in an improper seal — handle with care.
Press down on the adhesive with the flat end of a spudger or your finger.
Grasp the blue plastic lining near the center with your fingers.
Pull it away from the phone, leaving a thin perimeter of exposed adhesive.
Reconnect the screen to your Pixel, following the instructions in reverse.
Remove the blue plastic liner to reveal the perimeter adhesive.
Position the screen on top of the frame.
Secure the screen to the frame by pressing down on its corners.
Press down on the edges of the screen.
