For your safety, discharge the battery below 25% before disassembling your phone to avoid thermal events.
To avoid heat damage, use caution when applying heat.
Do not pry at the screen seam as it separates the screen from the rest of the phone.
When using the Anti-Clamp, pull the blue handle towards the hinge to disengage opening mode.
If the surface is too slippery, use packing tape for a better grip.
Engage opening mode by pushing the blue handle away from the hinge.
Do not crank more than a half a turn at a time, as excessive force can cause damage. Wait one minute between turns.
Apply a suction cup to the screen, as close to the heated edge as possible.
Use strong, steady force to pull up on the suction cup and create a gap.
This may be difficult depending on your device's age; if you have trouble, reapply heat and try again.
Apply a iOpener to the left edge of the screen and heat for one minute.
Insert a new opening pick into the bottom left corner of the screen.
Do not insert the pick more than 1/4 inch (6 mm) or you may damage the screen's flex cable.
Leave the pick inserted to prevent the adhesive from re-sealing.
If the adhesive is stubborn, apply heat to the area for one minute before proceeding.
Insert an opening pick into the bottom right corner of the screen.
Be aware that the adhesive is typically thickest at the four corners.
Use the opening pick at the top left corner to lift the left edge of the screen by a few millimeters.
This will prevent clips from snapping back into the case.
Grasp the screen connector cover using a pair of tweezers.
Be cautious not to damage the surrounding components.
Pull the clip in towards the connector to release its latch.
Remove the screen connector cover.
Avoid damaging the screen flex cable by misaligning the connector.
Fragile screen: Avoid scratches and dents.
Do not let isopropyl alcohol splash onto unintended components when cleaning adhesive.
Do not touch the screen during boot-up calibration to avoid touch issues.
Do not puncture or bend the battery — risk of chemical leak or thermal event.
Remove the graphite pad from the charging plate cover using tweezers.
Keep track of each screw and replace it exactly where it came from.
Remove the charging plate cover using tweezers.
Keep this component aside for later reuse in reassembly.
Use a T3 Torx driver to remove the eight screws, each measuring 4.6 mm long.
Use tweezers to lift up the right side of the midframe.
The spacer at the top may fall out; save it for reassembly.
Insert the pointed end of the spudger under the battery connector, then gently pry it straight up.
Use blunt nose tweezers to grasp the black adhesive pull tab at the top right edge of the battery.
Twisted or wrinkled strips may stick together and break instead of coming out cleanly.
If the adhesive is hard to remove, you can roll it around a spudger and continue pulling.
If the pull tab breaks prematurely, use tweezers to retrieve any remaining length of adhesive and proceed carefully.
If retrieval is not possible, move on to the next step.
Remove the pull tab from the bottom left edge of the battery.
If the tab breaks or cannot be retrieved, proceed to the next step.
Apply high-concentration isopropyl alcohol to loosen any remaining adhesive residue.
Position the phone at an angle allowing the alcohol to flow towards the remaining adhesive.
Allow the adhesive to soften for one minute before proceeding.
Be cautious not to damage the two flex cables under the battery.
Avoid bending the battery or touching the earpiece contact pins near the top left corner.
Never use a deformed or damaged battery — potential risk of electric shock.
Replace it immediately with a new battery.
