Caution: The wireless charging coil is covered by a graphite adhesive layer, which must be destroyed and replaced during removal.
Insert a SIM eject tool, ejector bit, or a straightened paper clip into the small hole on the SIM card tray located on the left edge of the phone.
Press firmly to prevent damage — risk of breaking the SIM card tray.
Use a heat source with caution to avoid overheating the phone.
Do not apply excessive heat, as it may damage the display and internal battery.
Apply a suction cup to the heated edge of the back panel by pressing down firmly.
As a last resort, superglue the suction cup to the broken panel, but be aware that this may damage surrounding components.
Apply suction cup firmly with steady force.
Insert an opening pick at the bottom edge of the device.
Leave the pick inserted at the bottom right corner to prevent re-adhesion.
Apply a iOpener to the left edge of the phone for 1 minute.
Insert a second opening pick directly over the charge port.
Slide the opening pick around the bottom left corner and across the left side of the phone.
The adhesive can be very gummy — use a sawing motion with the pick to help slice it.
Prepare an iOpener.
Insert a third pick at the lower right side.
Insert the third opening pick into the top right corner and slide it along the top edge of the device, cutting through the remaining strip of adhesive.
Carefully lift the right edge of the back cover.
Do not pull the panel all the way off yet, as it is still connected to the phone.
Continue swinging open the back panel until it rests on the left edge of the phone, taking care not to stress the attached ribbon cable.
Remove the T3 Torx screws securing the battery connector shield using a T3 Torx driver.
Keep track of each screw and ensure it returns to its original location for reassembly.
Remove the battery connector shield with a pair of tweezers.
Be extremely cautious when using a spudger near the battery to avoid accidental puncture.
When reconnecting press connectors, carefully align and press down on one side until it clicks, then repeat on the other. Never press in the middle, as misalignment can cause permanent damage to the pins.
Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully bend the battery cable out of the way.
Do not allow the battery cable to touch any other components during this repair process.
Remove the T3 Torx driver and use it to unscrew the two 4 mm screws holding the back panel connector cover in place.
Remove the back panel connector cover with a pair of tweezers.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to pry up the back panel connector.
Remove the back panel.
Be careful not to touch the wireless charging coil during disassembly.
Peel back the graphite adhesive layer to expose the wireless charging coil, NFC pads, and LED flash module.
Use tweezers to gently lift a corner of the wireless charging coil pad's adhesive backing.
Make sure the new wireless charging coil's contacts align with the outline left by the old adhesive.
