Avoid overheating the phone, as the display and internal battery can be damaged.
Apply a suction cup to the heated edge of the back panel by pressing down on it.
Apply firm pressure with a suction cup to separate the back panel from the frame.
Additional force or heat may be required, depending on phone age.
Slide an opening pick across the bottom towards the left corner to slice the adhesive.
Apply heat carefully to avoid damage — follow correct temperature guidelines.
Insert the second opening pick underneath the back panel, positioning it directly above the charge port.
Insert an opening pick into the bottom left corner of the phone.
Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the right edge of the phone for 1 minute.
Stop when you reach the top right corner and leave the pick inserted to avoid damage.
Slide the third opening pick from the top right corner, then move it across the top of the phone to slice the remaining adhesive.
Carefully lift the right edge of the back cover, opening it like a book.
Do not attempt to remove the panel completely at this stage — it remains connected to the phone.
Continue opening the back panel until it rests on the left edge of the phone, without stressing the attached ribbon cable.
Power on and test all functions before re-sealing the back panel — then power down completely to continue working.
Remove the T3 Torx screws securing the battery connector shield:
Label and keep track of each screw for reassembly.
Remove the battery connector shield using a pair of tweezers.
Avoid damaging the battery when using a spudger near it.
Fold the battery cable back using the flat end of a spudger.
Remove the T3 Torx driver and use it to loosen the two 4 mm screws.
Remove the back panel connector cover using a pair of tweezers.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to pry up and release the back panel connector.
Remove the back panel.
Remove the four 4 mm screws using a T3 Torx driver.
Use tweezers to tilt the camera cover upwards.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to gently lift the camera and sensor connectors upwards, away from the motherboard.
Disconnect the laser module connector.
Remove the two 2.4 mm screws using a T3 Torx driver.
Remove the front camera and sensor assembly using a pair of tweezers.
Remove the T3 Torx screws securing the vibration motor shield.
Remove the vibration motor shield with a pair of tweezers.
Disconnect the rear-facing camera connectors using the pointed end of a spudger.
Remove the left grip sensor connector from its socket on the motherboard.
Disconnect the bottom microphone connector from the motherboard.
Use your fingers or a soft prying tool to gently lift the two battery adhesive pull tabs, but do not attempt to remove them at this time.
Use a spudger to carefully lift the top edge of the motherboard out of its mounting points.
Slowly lift out the motherboard, being careful not to snag any ribbon cable connectors.
The rear-facing camera module may detach with the motherboard during removal; ensure proper reinstallation.
When reinstalling the motherboard, inspect for trapped ribbon cable connectors to avoid damage.
