Disassembling the front laser assembly may expose you to invisible infrared laser emissions, posing a hazard (see Google's safety warnings).
Insert a SIM eject tool, bit, or a straightened paper clip into the small hole on the SIM card tray.
Press firmly to avoid damaging the tray — risk of damage.
Apply heat to the iOpener and place it on the bottom edge of the back panel for one minute.
Be careful not to overheat the phone as the display and internal battery can be damaged.
Press a suction cup firmly onto the heated edge of the back panel.
Use strong, steady force to create a gap between the back panel and frame by pulling up on the suction cup.
Insert an opening pick at the bottom center of the device.
Apply iOpener to the left edge of the phone for 1 minute.
Insert a second opening pick under the back panel, just above the charge port.
Slide the opening pick around the bottom left corner and across the left side of the phone in a smooth motion.
The adhesive may be gummy; use a sawing motion with the pick to help it slice through smoothly.
Apply heat to the right edge carefully, as excessive temperature can cause damage.
Insert a third pick at the lower right side.
Use the third opening pick to slide along the top right corner and across the top edge of the phone.
Do not attempt to remove the back cover completely at this time.
Continue swinging open the back panel until it rests on the left edge of the phone, avoiding stress on the ribbon cable.
Do not power on your phone during reassembly without first powering it down completely and testing functions at this stage.
Remove the four T3 Torx screws securing the battery connector shield: one 1.8mm, one 4.1mm, one 4.4mm shouldered, and one 4.0mm shouldered.
Remove the battery connector shield with a pair of tweezers.
Be extremely cautious when using a spudger near the battery to avoid puncturing it.
Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully fold the battery cable out of the way.
Remove the T3 Torx driver and unscrew the two 4.1 mm screws. They secure the back panel connector cover.
Remove the back panel connector cover using a pair of tweezers.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the back panel connector.
Be gentle when pulling on the battery adhesive pull tab to avoid damaging nearby components.
Remove the rear-facing camera connector cover using a pair of tweezers.
Locate and remove the following T3 Torx screws:
Use tweezers to remove the front-facing camera connector cover.
Pry the camera and sensor connectors straight up from the motherboard using the pointed end of a spudger.
Disconnect the additional sensor connector.
The cable may be stuck due to a small amount of adhesive.
Remove two T3 Torx screws with a magnetic screwdriver: one 2.7 mm, one 3.1 mm.
Remove the front camera and sensor assembly using a pair of tweezers.
Remove the display connector cover using a pair of tweezers.
Disconnect the display connector from the motherboard using the flat end of a spudger.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to carefully release the side button connector.
Be careful not to damage the delicate pins or surrounding components.
Remove the earpiece speaker connector from its socket on the motherboard.
Prying can damage the motherboard.
Use a spudger to gently lift the top end of the motherboard.
Slowly lift out the motherboard, avoiding any ribbon cable connectors.
Check that no ribbon cable connectors are caught underneath when reinstalling the motherboard.
Remove the rear-facing camera module with a pair of tweezers.
