Step 2 | Heat the back panel glass

Step 2 image

Avoid overheating the phone — risk of display and internal battery damage.

  • Prepare an iOpener or use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate to heat the back panel's bottom edge for one minute.

Step 3 | Apply a suction cup

Step 3 image

Thumbnail 2

Apply a suction cup to the heated edge of the back panel by pressing down on it.

  • To create suction, press down as close to the edge as possible.
  • If the back glass is badly cracked, cover it with clear packing tape for better adhesion.
  • Alternatively, use strong tape instead of a suction cup.
  • As a last resort, apply superglue to the suction cup and attach it to the broken panel.

Step 4 | Insert an opening pick

Step 4 image

Thumbnail 2

Apply firm, consistent pressure with the suction cup to create a separation between the back panel and frame.

  • If the back panel is stuck, try applying extra heat around the edges before attempting again.
  • Once a gap has formed, carefully insert an opening pick into the space.

Step 5 | Begin to slice the adhesive
