The Pixel 3a has a fragile display panel; when reusing the screen, carefully follow the opening procedure's warnings.
Locate the two seams on your phone:
Do not risk damaging the display panel by prying beyond the narrow adhesive perimeter without angling your pick carefully.
Apply heat to the right edge of the display using either an iOpener heated for 1 minute or a hair dryer until the edge is hot to the touch.
Locate a suction cup near the right screen edge.
Before slicing long edges, ensure the pick is inserted without damaging the OLED panel.
If the pick is pressing against the edge of the OLED panel, adjust its angle and try again.
Insert the pick no deeper than 1/4" (6 mm) to avoid damaging the screen's flex cable.
Insert the pick no more than 1/4" (6 mm) into the gap.
Insert a spudger into the left edge of the phone, angling it below the OLED panel, with the tip no more than 1 mm deep.
Keep the pick at least 8 mm inside the top edge when slicing.
Do not remove the screen — it's still attached via a flex cable.
Flip the attached screen upside-down, resting it on the phone.
Peel off the black tape covering the screen connector bracket carefully.
Remove the two T3 screws (4.4 mm long) securing the screen connector bracket.
Be careful when disconnecting connectors to avoid dislodging nearby surface-mounted components.
Remove the screen.
The screen calibration sequence must not be interrupted. Do not touch the screen during boot-up.
Remove fourteen T3 screws of different lengths.
Keep track of each screw and ensure it returns to its original position.
Be careful not to damage the phone's frame or back cover.
Slide a pick along both sides to release midframe clips.
Be careful not to damage the proximity sensor cable.
Reinstall: align the midframe, and squeeze the phone's edges to snap clips back in place.
Reconnect the proximity sensor by aligning the midframe's top edge with the phone.
Be cautious when handling the proximity sensor as it is lightly adhered to the midframe.
Never touch any internal components during disassembly.
Remove the two 3.3 mm T3 screws securing the USB-C port.
Insert the pointed end of the spudger into the interconnect cable's socket.
Gently pry the cable free while avoiding damage to the surrounding components.

Remove the T3 screw using a suitable driver.
Remove the black antenna cable from the board socket using the tip of a spudger.
Insert the spudger under the loudspeaker's flex contact pad and carefully pry it away from the phone frame.
Insert the point of a spudger under the right squeeze sensor's lower screw hole, located at the loudspeaker's top-right corner.
Be careful not to puncture the battery with the spudger.
Do not attempt to remove the right squeeze sensor bracket.
Locate the loudspeaker on the phone, positioned at the right edge.
Locate the loudspeaker's bottom edge and insert the edge of an opening tool.
Slide the top-right corner of the loudspeaker under the right support bracket's screw hole.
Transfer the antenna board from the old unit to the new one if not included.
