Tape the cracked display glass to prevent further breakage and bodily harm.
Apply a smooth surface by taping over the glass, allowing the suction cup to bond properly.
Risk of damaging the OLED panel if the pick is inserted deeper than 1.5 mm.
The display panel is fragile. Be cautious when inserting tools to avoid damaging the OLED panel under the glass.
When working on areas near the OLED panel and front-facing camera, exercise extreme caution to avoid damaging the phone.
When cutting, use the flat edge of the opening pick, not a corner.
Be cautious when handling the earpiece speaker mesh — it can be damaged easily.
Slide the pick around the bottom-left corner and along the bottom of the phone, keeping it at a slight angle away from the screen to prevent damage to the OLED corners.
Avoid inserting the opening pick more than 9 mm to prevent damaging the OLED panel.
Reinsert the pick at the top edge and gently pry up the display.
Position the display face down on top of the rear case as shown.
Disconnect and remove the display cable bracket.
Use a spudger to lift the display cable connector out of its socket on the motherboard.
Avoid touching the motherboard with the spudger tip, as surrounding components are fragile.
If your screen doesn't respond after repair, re-seat this connector, ensuring it's fully clicked in and free of dust or obstructions.
Heat the iOpener and apply it to the proximity sensor on the top edge of the midframe for 2 minutes.
Position the spudger at the edge of the proximity sensor cable, nearest the front-facing camera.
Peel back the small piece of tape covering the screw below the earpiece speaker.
It is easy to mix up screws, so be careful when removing them.
Keep track of each screw and ensure it is returned to its original location.
The midframe cannot be completely removed yet.
Locate the bottom edge of the midframe and lift it upwards.
Disconnect the battery connector with the flat end of a spudger.
Disconnect the charging assembly connector with the flat end of a spudger.
Apply isopropyl alcohol to the battery corners using a plastic dropper or syringe, allowing 1 minute for adhesives to weaken.
Alternatively, use a heated iOpener on the back of the phone over the battery for at least 2 minutes, reapplying as needed until adhesive is sufficiently weakened.
Hold the charging assembly cable out of the way.
Never use excessive force or metal tools to pry the battery — risk of fire or explosion.
Never reuse a removed battery — potential safety hazard.
Apply adhesive into the phone, not directly onto the battery — avoid touching cables.
Use the flat end of a spudger to disengage the charging assembly connector from the motherboard.
Insert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left side of the phone.
Remove the two 2.5 mm PH00 screws.
Disconnect the bottom-edge connectors on the motherboard.
Use a plastic opening tool to pry up the motherboard.
Flip the motherboard over.
The motherboard is now completely detached from the phone, take care not to damage any surrounding components.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to carefully lift the button ribbon cable away from the phone.
Use the flat end of a spudger to pry up the power button retaining clip.
Grasp the metal retaining clip using a pair of blunt nose tweezers.
Use tweezers to remove the remaining button halves.
Insert a spudger into the gap between the volume button and the case, then gently push it forward.
