Wrap cracked display glass with tape for safety and a smooth surface.

  • Suction Cup: Position it near the volume button, avoiding the curved edge.
  • Caution: The suction cup won't seal properly on the curved portion of the glass.

Step 2

Step 2 image

Apply firm, constant pressure with the suction cup and insert an opening pick between the front panel and rear case.

  • Insert the pick no deeper than 1.5 mm to avoid damaging the OLED panel.
  • Alternatively, rock the suction cup and screen or apply heat using an iOpener, heat gun, or hair dryer if additional force is required.

Be extremely cautious when handling the display panel as it is fragile and can be damaged easily. If reusing the display, only insert the tool as far as necessary to separate the adhesive to avoid damaging the OLED panel under the glass.

Step 3

To avoid damage to your phone, exercise extra caution when using a pick and opening tools.

  • Insert the pick no more than 9 mm into the bottom edge of the phone.
  • Avoid touching the folded OLED panel with the pick as this can cause display damage.
  • In the upper left corner, make very shallow cuts to prevent damaging the front-facing camera.

Step 4

When using the opening pick, use its flat surface rather than a corner to pry here.

  • Slide the opening pick up along the right edge of the phone to separate the display adhesive.
  • Be extremely cautious around the side bezels, as they are only 1.5 mm deep.

Step 5

Locate the upper-right corner of the phone and slide the opening pick along the top edge.

Be cautious near the earpiece speaker mesh: it can be damaged if disturbed.

Insert the pick into the bottom-left corner and slide it along the bottom of the phone, maintaining a slight angle away from the screen.

Do not insert the pick more than 9 mm to avoid damaging the OLED panel.

Reinsert pick at top edge and gently pry up display.

Do not attempt full separation; fragile ribbon cable remains connected.

  • If display resists, use extra prying to separate remaining adhesive.
  • Be cautious near upper speaker, as adhesive is thicker here.

Step 9

Place the display on top of the rear case, ensuring the ribbon cable is not damaged.

  • Remove the two 4.0 mm T5 Torx screws holding the display cable bracket in place.
  • Note and track each screw's location to ensure correct reassembly.

Step 10

Use a spudger to lift the display cable connector out of its socket on the motherboard.

Avoid touching the motherboard with the spudger tip — components are fragile.

  • To re-attach, align and press down one side until it clicks into place, then repeat for the other side.
  • Do not press down on the middle of the connector

    to avoid pin damage.
  • If touch issues persist, re-seat this connector ensuring a full click and no dust/obstruction in the socket.

Pause here for reassembly and replace display adhesive around edges.

Step 12 | Midframe

Step 12 image

Apply iOpener to the top edge of the midframe, near the proximity sensor, and heat for 2 minutes.

  • The adhesive will begin to loosen during this time.

Step 13

Step 13 image

  • Insert the spudger's tip under the proximity sensor cable near the front-facing camera.
  • Lift the sensor cable edge until it's at a right angle to the midframe.

Step 14

Step 14 image

Peel back the tape covering the screw below the earpiece speaker.

  • Remove any additional tape covering other screws.
  • Remove all 3.7 mm Phillips screws (11 total).
  • Remove one 4 mm T5 Torx screw.

Keep track of each screw for correct reassembly.

Step 15

Step 15 image

Insert opening tool into notch in midframe near hold button.

  • Pry midframe upwards, creating gap between it and phone case.
  • Midframe is not fully removable at this stage.

Step 16

Lift the midframe up starting from the bottom edge.

  • Continue lifting until the midframe reaches a 45° angle with the rest of the phone.
  • Once at this angle, lift the midframe straight up and away from the phone.
  • Carefully guide the proximity sensor through the small slot in the midframe

Step 20

Step 20 image

Remove the white antenna cable from metal clips on the board and channel on the loudspeaker using tweezers.

  • Reroute the cable to the left of the phone.
  • Careful not to damage the antenna or speaker during reassembly.

Disconnect the black antenna cable by gently prying its connector straight up with the tip of a spudger.

Step 22

Step 22 image

Use tweezers to carefully lift the black antenna cable from its channel on the loudspeaker.

  • Move the cable toward the top of the phone.
  • This will keep it out of the way of the loudspeaker.

Step 23

Gently push the speaker cable connector out of its socket using the tip of a spudger, moving it horizontally and alternating sides a little at a time.

  • Start with one side and gently push until the connector is partially out.
  • Switch to the other side and repeat, gradually working the connector out of its socket.

Step 24
