Tape the cracked display glass to prevent further breakage and bodily harm.
Taping also creates a smooth surface for the suction cup to bond to.
Apply firm, constant pressure with the suction cup and insert an opening pick between the front panel and rear case.
The display panel is fragile. When reusing your display, be careful not to insert tools too far under the glass.
Excessive force may cause permanent damage to the phone's display.
Use the flat part of the opening pick, not a corner, for cutting.
Be careful with the side bezels — they are only 1.5 mm deep.
Insert the opening pick into the upper-right corner and slide it along the top edge.
Do not damage or remove this component if a replacement is not available.
Slide the pick from the upper-left corner to the lower-left edge of the phone.
Be cautious when inserting the opening pick near the OLED corners.
Reinsert the pick at the top edge of the phone and gently pry up the display.
Position the display on top of the rear case as illustrated.
Disconnect the display cable bracket.
Use the point of a spudger to gently lift the display cable connector out of its socket on the motherboard.
Avoid touching the motherboard components around the socket, as they are fragile.
If any screen area doesn't respond after repair, re-seat this connector and ensure proper alignment and cleanliness.
During reassembly, replace the adhesive around the display edges before proceeding further.
Softening the adhesive may damage the proximity sensor.
Locate the proximity sensor cable nearest to the front-facing camera.
Peel back the small piece of tape covering the screw below the earpiece speaker.
Keep track of each screw and ensure it is reinstalled exactly where it was removed from.
Locate the notch on the midframe near the hold button.
Lift the midframe starting from the bottom edge.
Disconnect the battery connector using the flat end of a spudger.
Disconnect the charging assembly connector using the flat end of a spudger.
Fill a plastic dropper or syringe with high concentration isopropyl alcohol.
Alternatively, use a heated iOpener on the back of the phone over the battery for at least two minutes, reheating and reapplying as needed until the adhesive is sufficiently weakened.
Hold the charging assembly cable out of the way.
Only pry from the center of the battery to avoid damaging delicate ribbon cables beneath either side of the battery.
Do not use excessive force or metal tools, as this may deform the soft-shell lithium-ion battery and lead to dangerous chemical leaks, fires, or explosions.
Do not reuse a removed battery — risk of electrical shock.
Disconnect the charging assembly connector from the motherboard using the flat end of a spudger.
Insert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the small hole on the left side of the phone.
Continue pushing gently until the SIM card tray pops out.
Remove the two 2.5 mm PH00 screws.
Flip the device over with the display side facing downwards.
Flip the device over with the display side facing up.
