Insert a SIM card eject tool or a paperclip into the small hole in the SIM card tray, located on the left edge of the phone.

  • Press firmly on the eject tool to release the tray.

Step 2

Step 2 image

Remove the SIM card tray from the phone.

  • The SIM card will fall out of the tray easily.
  • When reinserting, ensure it is in proper orientation relative to the tray.

Step 3 | Opening Procedure

Step 3 image

Bodily harm and further breakage are prevented by taping over cracked display glass.

  • Apply a suction cup close to the SIM slot edge, avoiding the curved section.
  • Taping over cracked glass creates a smooth surface for suction cup adhesion.
  • The suction cup will not bond well on the curved portion of the display glass.

Step 4

Step 4 image

Thumbnail 3

Apply firm, constant pressure with a suction cup to insert an opening pick between the front panel and rear case.

  • Use significant force and patience; if struggling, rock the suction cup and screen gently.
  • Alternative: apply heat using an iOpener, heat gun, or hair dryer for assistance.

Step 5

Step 5 image

Risk of display damage when handling the folded OLED panel.

  • Insert the pick no more than 0.25 inches (6 mm) into the bottom edge.
  • Avoid cutting along the left edge to prevent damaging delicate display cables.
  • Make very shallow cuts in the upper left corner to avoid damaging the front-facing camera.

Step 6

Step 6 image

Insert the opening pick into the edge of the phone and slide it down the right side, working to release the display adhesive.

Step 7

Step 7 image

Thumbnail 3

Use the flat edge of the opening pick to cut.

  • Slide the pick around the lower-right corner.
  • Continue along the bottom edge of the phone.

Step 8

Slide the pick from the top-right corner towards the top edge of the phone.

  • Rotate the pick to follow the curved shape of the phone's edge.

Step 9

Step 9 image

Start by gently lifting the display from the right side of the phone, opening it like a book.

If it doesn't lift easily, apply extra prying force to separate the remaining adhesive.

  • Do not fully separate the display yet — fragile ribbon cables still connect it to the motherboard.
  • Lay the display flat on a table next to the rest of the phone, keeping it close to avoid straining the display and digitizer cables.

Step 10

Step 10 image

Careful prying required — risk of damage to digitizer cable.

  • Use the corner of a opening tool to pry up and unclip the cover along its lower edge.
  • Pry carefully to avoid damaging the digitizer cable underneath.
  • Remove the connector cover entirely, taking care not to lose it.
  • Keep this component for reassembly.

Step 11

Step 11 image

Thumbnail 2

Use a spudger point to lift the digitizer cable connector out of its motherboard socket.

  • For re-attachment, align carefully and press down on one side until it clicks, then repeat on the other side.
  • Do not press the middle – this can bend pins and cause permanent damage.

If your screen doesn't respond after repair:

  • Re-seat the connector to ensure a full click, with no dust or obstructions in the socket.

Step 12

Step 12 image

Remove any tape adhering to the display connector cover using tweezers.

Step 13

Step 13 image

  • Insert the point of a spudger into the small hole on the edge of the display connector cover.
  • Pry the cover out of its recess using the spudger.
  • Remove the connector cover and set it aside for reassembly.

Step 14

Step 14 image

Lift the display cable connector with the flat edge of a spudger.

Risk of damage from excessive force.

  • Remove the display.
  • Optionally, replace the adhesive strips during reassembly.

Step 15 | Midframe

Step 15 image

Remove eleven 3.8 mm Phillips screws securing the midframe.

  • Keep track of each screw during this repair, ensuring it returns to its original location.
  • Label or organize the removed screws for efficient reassembly.

Step 16

Step 16 image

Thumbnail 3

Insert a spudger into the notch in the midframe near the volume buttons.

  • Pry the midframe up and away from the rest of the phone.
  • Remove the midframe.

Step 17 | Battery Connector

Disconnect the battery connector using the flat end of a spudger.

Step 18 | Motherboard

Step 18 image

Insert the pointed end of a spudger under the front-facing camera connector and gently pry loose.

  • Attach the front camera to the motherboard.
  • With the camera attached, carefully insert the motherboard into its socket.

Use the point of a spudger to carefully pry loose the front-facing sensor assembly connector.

Step 24

Step 24 image

Clear the board area of any cables and connectors.

  • Lift the bottom of the motherboard using a spudger's flat edge, starting from the narrow part near the SIM card slot.
  • Be cautious: if the board starts to bend, stop immediately and check for obstructions.

The narrow part is fragile; avoid bending it further.

  • Slide the motherboard toward the phone's bottom while lifting it out, keeping the SIM card slot end close to the wide part of the board.
  • Remove the motherboard once it clears the phone.

After removal, keep the phone flat with the battery facing up to prevent damage or loss of the front-facing camera.

  • When reinstalling: move cables and connectors aside, ensuring proper alignment of connectors with their sockets.

Step 25 | Loudspeaker

Step 25 image

  • Insert the point of a spudger under the lower left side of the loudspeaker.
  • Pry the speaker assembly up from the phone, working slowly and carefully.
  • If you encounter resistance, try inserting the flat end of the spudger into a gap at the base of the phone and gently prying up.

Step 26

Step 26 image

Disconnect the loudspeaker from the phone.

  • Identify and separate the loudspeaker unit from the rest of the device.
  • Gently lift the loudspeaker out of its mounting clips or socket.
