Step 1 | Display Adhesive
Remove all old adhesive residue from Pixel case.
Take extra care to collect any small glass fragments.
- Soak adhesion areas with high concentration isopropyl alcohol (at least 90%) for better seal.
- If reinstalling display, remove adhesive from back of display as well.
Install speaker grilles and front-facing camera gasket before applying display adhesive if necessary.
Step 2
Remove the protective film from the new adhesive.
Step 3
Identify perforations along the inner and outer edges of the adhesive strip.
- Tear carefully along the outer perforations to separate the outer portion of the adhesive backing
- Tear carefully along the inner perforations to separate the inner portion of the blue backing
Be extremely cautious not to damage the adhesive, white backing, or blue backing.
Remove only the blue plastic surrounding the adhesive strip.
- The resulting adhesive should have blue backing on one side and white backing on the other, in a phone-shaped ring.
Step 4
Peel away the white backing from the adhesive strip.
- Place the exposed side of the adhesive strip on the phone case with the blue backing facing up.
- Align the speaker holes in the adhesive strip over the speakers for correct positioning.
- Press the adhesive strip firmly down onto the case using your finger or a spudger.
Step 5
Remove the blue backing from the adhesive, taking care not to detach it from the phone.
- Tear or cut through the blue backing next to the pull tab for easier removal.
- Finish assembling your phone following the replacement guide specific to your Pixel 2 XL model.
